Very closely linked to Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, which deploys to two ¾ kilometers above him, the Valcabrère site has undergone various successive developments, the final stage of which appears to have been crossed with the construction of the Basilica of Saint-Just around 1200. The Romanesque church was built on an important Paleochristian necropolis whose fragments have been extensively used. The imitation or reuse of ancient elements is evident especially for capitals. Outside, the use of antique marble tiles was very important in the development of the bedside. The tympan of the north portal, which forms part of the radiation of Toulouse's sculpture in the mid-nineteenth century, is adorned with an admirable Christ in the majesty.
