In 1107, a Benedictine priory was founded by Gérard de Jacquemin in these places. From this priory was born Saint Paul-de-Nancy Abbey, mother house of the sisters of Providence. The other facet of the history of Portieux is glassware founded in 1705 under the impetus of Duke Leopold I. Today, you can admire the magic of glass blowers. Portieux has architectural treasures such as the church and its font baptismal stone 1557 and its Virgin of pity stone of the th century.
