Situated in Fresnes-en-Woëvre canton, this village, built at the foot of the river Meuse, opens on the Woëvre plain, dotted with ponds frequented by many migratory birds. Bonzée would mean "water outlet" while Woëvre would come from "voivre" or "vaivre", designating wet, wetland, muddy soils.
