Einville-au-Jard is located on the Salifère bassin basin, next to that of Fit and Meurthe. The city was the residence of the Dukes of Lorraine, who appreciated it for its generous nature: forest, river, pond. This framework of life is preserved. Industrial exploitation of salt began in this commune in the middle of the th century. Two companies were there, the Saint-Laurent saltworks and the Sainte-Marie saltworks. For more than a century, the life of the small town was confused with the technical and social development of these two companies. In the early 1950 s, they employed a large proportion of the local population. Today only the Sainte-Marie saltworks is still active, under the name of Saline Saline, and employs about people. The last independent saltworks in France produces salt to the old. When treating in evaporators, it obtains fine salt.
