Crozant SchoolThe valley of Creuse, from Anzême to Ceaulmont in the Indre, attracted generations of so-called «pleinéristes» painters from the beginning of the th century. This pictorial tradition is asserted with the arrival of the Impressionist and is necessary with the post-post. Crozant and Fresselines, thanks in particular to Armand Guillaumin (1841-1927), a pioneer of this movement and who worked passionately the landscapes of La Creuse and Sédelle, were and are always the privileged sites of painters. Among more than 500 landscape paysagistes in the valley between 1850 and 1930, Claude Monet created 23 paintings, scattered throughout the world, including Semblantes Waters. Madeline, Emile-Othon Friesz, Alluaud, Osterlind, Léon Detroy resolutely marks movement. Today, many painters, who have asked their trestles along the valley, continue to immortalize places that are enchanting, moving, sometimes unusual and always fascinating with a range of very different invoices. But it was Maurice Rollinat, the poet, who in 1889 drew a fair painting of an exceptional nature: " On the heights, horizons as eyes: it's endless green shadows in a massive blue smoke ".
