A small border town 9 km south of Le Boulou, Le Perthus has very few inhabitants and yet the small town is often packed with tourists. During the high season, there is a high risk of traffic jams, and once you are there, it is very difficult to park. It is the first free market in Spain with 60,000 m² of commercial space open every day until 8pm. All the shops are represented, but it is especially for alcohol and tobacco that taxes are reduced. But Le Perthus is also and above all for more than 2,000 years a historical place of passage. The site of Panissars and the Fort de Bellegarde bear witness to this.
