Haybes is nicknamed Haybes-la-Jolie or Haybes-la-Rose, for its slate roofs ranging in color from violet to blue, through incomparable shades of pink. It could also be called Haybes-la-Martyre, for having paid a heavy price during the First World War. Haybes was rebuilt to such an extent that it now boasts unique contemporary architecture. Travelers will particularly appreciate the town's beautiful mansions, the Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville, where the cobblestones shine like little mirrors, and the contemplative strolls along the banks of the Meuse. It's a beautiful stop on your journey, different from the others.
