Rochehaut owes its name to its special location. This is where the Semois valley is at its most spectacular, with unique views. The village sits at the end of a plateau, on a rocky spur, overlooking two valleys. At the far end of one of these valleys, surrounded by the Semois, are the chapels and slate-roofed houses of the small village of Frahan. In winter mornings, the valley is completely filled with a thick mist that gives the impression of being at the edge of the sea; no depth is discernible. At sunrise or sunset, the panorama is truly sublime, and a pause for contemplation is a must.
