While being one of the great classics of escapades in the region, the Giant's Tomb in Botassart is not overused. No French fry shack, no crowd, just the silence of the deep valley from which emerges the hill entirely circumscribed by the Semois. It is one of the most beautiful natural sites in the country, with a viewpoint that offers a fabulous overview. The perfect shape of the relief is reminiscent of the earthen tomb of a huge creature, covered by a green mantle. Legend has it that a Gallic giant was murdered there by a Roman centurion. His body was found and buried by an old man and teenagers on this hill, which has since been called the Giant's Tomb. Four open-air museums (the laundress, the forest, the tools of the past and the popular beliefs of the Ardennes) give a more precise idea of what life in the region used to be like.
