The little bakery on Rue des Bouchers cultivates its old-fashioned spirit inside and out. Here, ancestral methods and gestures are scrupulously respected to produce doughs and breads with an authentic taste and inimitable crispness. But at Pain de nos ancêtres, it's the homemade gingerbread that's the talk of the town: a beautiful brown color, perfectly spiced and as moist as a cake. You'll also find a wide selection of viennoiseries, sweet and savoury tarts and speciality baguettes.

Portugal invites itself to Lille! Or at least its pastéis de nata, the famous and delicious golden egg tarts, sprinkled with cinnamon or powdered sugar. A former Portuguese investment banker who trained in a pastéis de nata factory in Lisbon, Paulo arrived in Lille to follow in his footsteps, with the traditional recipe in his suitcase... Success came quickly, and his azulejo-clad stall in Vieux Lille is always busy! To take away in beautiful boxes of 2 or 6, or to enjoy on the terrace with a small bica (espresso).

When Kristina and Mathieu opened their first high-quality artisan bakery-patisserie, they wanted to help the people of Lille (re)discover the true nature of bread. Mission accomplished, thanks to their baguettes and special breads made with organic flours, their assortment of homemade viennoiseries and pastries (croissants, pains au chocolat/raisins, apple turnovers, éclairs, Paris-Brest, mille-feuilles, tarts...), as well as their many variations of sandwiches, salads, quiches and pizzas for your best lunch breaks!

Generous and deliciously gourmet, they are sold at prices accessible to all budgets and served by a young, dynamic and very pleasant staff. The owner himself is very friendly and happy to chat, which doesn't spoil anything. A small, family-run bakery that ticks all the right boxes!

Mamatte is a traditional bakery offering innovative homemade sourdough and specialty breads. It's a pastry shop presenting French classics in generous, shareable slabs. An exceptional all-you-can-eat brunch and coffee corner. It's a caterer of varied, comforting recipes. And above all... it's a "Mademoiselles" bar with croissants topped to the minute with gourmet preparations!
