When Australians Victoria and Robert got married in Mykonos about 20 years ago, they didn't know they would end up leaving their country to settle on the island. In 2017, they opened this trendy café-restaurant. Here, healthy eating is in the air: they eat organic, vegan and gluten-free. In taking over the historic tavern run by his father, Thanassis Kousathanas decided to continue the tradition of excellence in cuisine while renovating the style of the restaurant. Today, it is an ideal combination of contemporary, sober and elegant decor and a cuisine that is as tasty as ever, featuring local products such as the famous seafood pasta and its famous stuffed chicken. The pasta is fresh and homemade and the staff is very kind. It is a must at Platys Gialos.

Recently opened by the owners of 1500 BC (located just below it on the caldera), this restaurant is sure to become one of Fira's most popular addresses. Named after one of the greatest Italian wines, often described as having aromas of tar and rose, Barolo offers subtle and refined gourmet Mediterranean cuisine. Overlooking the volcano and surrounded by traditional whitewashed buildings, Barolo offers an enchanting dining experience with a breathtaking view.

Opened in 2012, this tavern-ouzerie which overlooks the quays (it can be reached either from the port by a small staircase or by the alley parallel to the port) is a real museum. The owner, Nikos, revives this family place where meat specialities prepared according to the traditional local method are served: wrapped in butcher's paper(sto ladoharto in Greek, literally "greasy paper") and fried (for fish prepared in the same way, you have to go to the Smyneiko restaurant on the ground floor).

To have the privilege of enjoying the Glafkos tavern, you'll need to be patient (especially in high season), as reservations are not taken here and tables by the water are few and far between. But it's worth it! The service is impeccable, the setting enchanting and the varied menu offers refined and original cuisine, but always very typical and gourmet. Today, it's a café in tune with the times, with a trendy decor combining industrial style, antique objects, marble and metal. Situated in a pedestrian alleyway, To Takimi is an authentic Greek taverna that's a hive of activity at all hours of the day and night. Whether it's its welcoming shaded green patio, its sky-blue beams or its typical wooden furniture, everything makes you want to sit down here, even before discovering the menu. On the plate, unpretentious but well-executed Greek and Mediterranean cuisine: octopus in sauce, grilled fish, cheeses... All palates should be won over. In the evening, the atmosphere becomes more festive.

Baos Restaurant is the gourmet restaurant of the Myconian Korali hotel in Mykonos. The room is surrounded by picture windows offering a pleasant view of the Aegean Sea. You'll discover Greek cuisine featuring seafood and seasonal ingredients from the hotel's own farm. Fresh sushi is also served, along with excellent wines from the cellar.

This restaurant is perfectly placed, in the middle of the main avenue of Naoussa. One can sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere of the street. And the owner is very friendly, as well as the team of waiters. As for the food, the mushrooms sautéed with garlic, onions and tomatoes are very good. The sautéed crayfish(saganaki) with ouzo, feta cheese and garlic, a great classic, are also very good. On the other hand, the seafood pasta is very dry, really disappointing. Nice restaurant, but a bit uneven.

You may come across this tavern by chance when you get lost in the laces of the city around Little Venice. But the surprise is excellent. Widely frequented by locals (always a good sign), this establishment is worth a detour for its choice of seafood... not necessarily à la carte. Ask for the catch of the day and let yourself be tempted. Otherwise, it's open all day long for breakfast or a simple coffee and we think it's a good opportunity to meet and talk with locals, out of season at least...

Very well located, this restaurant has the good taste, unlike most of its neighbours, to remain open out of season. Correct prices and the right level of plates and service, sophisticated just right. Excellent octopus in its fava, sausage from Mykonos and keftedes (meatballs) from Maria. We advise you to pick from the mezzes, excellent, rather than take several more expensive and less surprising dishes. The place is also very popular in the morning for its breakfasts (omelettes and fruit yoghurts).

Here you will find quality Greek cuisine and excellent value for money on a pleasant terrace in the square of Ano Mera. To be recommended with your eyes closed. In high and low season alike, this ouzerie is a delight. On the square, facing the monastery, you can enjoy a nice selection of homemade dishes, in the sun on the terrace or in the shade in its small room. On the menu: cinnamon chicken, meatballs with mint, vegetable croquettes, fresh squid and homemade fries (quite rare here in Mykonos, to be underlined!).

Donoussa may be isolated, but it nevertheless welcomes a population of fairly young and trendy visitors and the establishments that have recently opened their doors are responding to this new demand. This café-restaurant, overlooking the landing stage, bears witness to this. In a slightly more trendy and contemporary style than its competitors, Avli also serves a slightly different and slightly more sought-after cuisine than in traditional taverns. The terrace is ideal for a coffee during the day or a drink for the aperitif.

The elegant marble and wooden building of the restaurant was built in 1844 in the area of Paraporti in the town of Naxos, a place where peasants worked in the service of the Venetian conquerors of the island. Paraporti was the second most important south-north entrance to the Naxos Castle area. A pleasant change! You will taste the owner's pork chops, rabbits, snails and cockerels to discover the true cuisine of the interior. The products are of excellent quality and this will be an opportunity to discover a truly authentic menu. All this in a very pleasant setting, surrounded by gardenias.

Located a few kilometers from the hustle and bustle of Naoussa, on the seafront, Christiana is the restaurant attached to the hotel of the same name. The place is peaceful and charming, where you can eat with your feet almost in the water. The address is discreetly exchanged on the beaches between lovers of fish and good Greek food. And why? Because the owners are fishermen themselves, and every day the restaurant receives its fish directly by boat. You can't get fresher than this! The menu includes lobster pasta and fish bisque.

After the now famous Cavo d'Oro in Paros, opened in 1980, here is the new restaurant designed by Adonis Vassilas, located in the beautiful village of Filoti, in Naxos this time. On the coastal road, just in front of Kionia beach and next to the temple of Poseidon, this beach tavern frankly offers a very reasonable local cuisine based on local products. Here you can taste good artichokes in vinegar, as well as marinated anchovies and other small dishes to share. There are also more substantial traditional dishes for those with big appetites. In short, ideal for a lunch break between two swims.
