A nice address at very good prices, easily reached on foot from the piazzale Roma. It takes its name from a famous thoroughbred, winner of many races at French racecourses. We appreciated the well-kept setting and the flowered garden where we can settle down when the weather is nice. The Venetian cuisine offers beautiful plates of fish cooked with talent (spaghetti with cuttlefish ink, scallops). The products are fresh, and the dishes, including bread and pasta, are homemade.

Along the Fondamenta Nuove, facing the magnificent lagoon landscape that overlooks the northern islands, here is a restaurant that sets the bar high both for the setting and the content of the plate. Inside, the atmosphere is modern and cozy, and outside, a terrace that floats on the water for even more relaxed meals. Behind the stove, ingredients are assembled with a permanent quest for culinary refinement. Those in a hurry will simply stop by the bar for an espresso with brioche, or for the evening spritz and cicchetti.

The restaurant is located in an old sacristy that until ten years ago housed the art gallery of a famous master glassmaker. In the kitchen, apart from the traditional pizzas, which are counted by the dozens, the owner Giuseppe Calliandro reappropriates almost all the treasures of local cuisine, such as Venetian liver served with polenta, cannelloni with Doge or scampi alla busera. Whatever you order, your plate will be deliberately generous. The wine list is also qualitative. Good reception in addition.

In the ghetto, you can eat delicious pizza in the large room or, in summer, outdoors, on the small square, distorted by the roots of a very old tree. It is calm, pleasant, but invaded by mosquitoes. A shadow of the table… Good kitchen and warm welcome.

In the small room of this inn-like trattoria there is an air of yesteryear, while on the plate you will find the specialties of Veneto and Treviso (bigoli in sauce, roast duck served on a bed of potatoes and red radish). True to its name, the duck (oca) will be offered in all its forms. The menu is renewed regularly, according to the seasons. The decor is warm and authentic, with a wooden ceiling, old photographs, bottles of wine here and there... A good address.

This establishment is located in what was once one of the first banks in Venice, hence its name. In summer, a beautiful terrace is set up along the canal, right next to the Rialto. The quality of the dishes offered could make you think that you are at one of these prestigious addresses with jealously guarded culinary secrets. An address with a quite impersonal decor but where the pizzas are varied and delicate (thin dough and easy to digest: gluten-free option for intolerants). You can also try other dishes, such as the Schiz alla Bellunese, a specialty of fresh cheese, typical of the province of Belluno, which is cooked in a frying pan with butter and salt. The taste is not very strong but it is still an interesting discovery! You can also try spaghetti with seafood or a salted strudel with red radish from Treviso.

Located on the first floor of an elegant villa with a facade featuring pretty stone balconies, this discreet restaurant offers a menu of typical lagoon cuisine. Inside, there are two pleasant dining rooms, brightened by beautiful Murano glass, and, in summer, an intimate vine-covered terrace. The cuisine of the sea takes pride of place: cod with polenta, crab, cuttlefish... but also pasta dishes and fish (bass, sea bream, sole). Attentive service. Overcrowded in high season, reservations are highly recommended. A good Lido restaurant.

L'Oie Blanche (in Italian L'Oca Bianca) is the nice name of this small neighborhood trattoria. Here, at Ugo's, proximity rhymes with quality cuisine! Behind the Excelsior Hotel, a few steps from the Festival Palace and the Casino, Tavernetta offers refined cuisine featuring dishes from Venetian and Tuscan cuisine. On the menu, however, pasta, meat and fish take the lion's share. Riccardo and his wife Adrianna have passed on their taste for good things to their son Ottavio, who has become a sommelier. Nice selection of bottles, to be tasted with patience. It is also possible to come here for a simple drink, as the restaurant also serves as a bar.

One of Verona's most famous restaurants. Located in a palace of the eighteenth century, he draws his name from the 12 merchants (and not apostles) who in 1750 used to be here to speak business before a dish of pasta e fagioli (pasta pasta) and a glass of Valpolicella. The same recipes are repeated today, of course more sought-after and refined. Since 1968, the literary prize of the same name has been awarded to the best writer every year. Nestled under the arcades in front of the Duomo's baptistery, with its air of an old café from the end of the century, Il Gancino is a warm place with an authentic spirit. Recognizable by its old wooden front, this friendly locanda serves very good quality espressos, but also savoury snacks to be tasted on the spot, in a wooden decor with comfortable armchairs. This family-run restaurant, located on the road to the Arsenale, offers good risotti alla marinara, spaghetti at dry, bigoli, Sardinian in saor, etc. In sum, the whole range of typical Venetian dishes but at very affordable prices. There is not much room, but in summer you can be served in the small interior garden.

It's been 900 years since we came to enjoy it, or almost, because it's rather the red brick tower that overhangs the trattoria that has this age! The restaurant is nevertheless one of the oldest in Murano. Around the chef Gabriel Masiol, known as "Lele il Rosso", the service is active. We love the tomatoes with mozzarella, the lasagne, the gnocchi or the grilled sole. The homemade tiramisu does not leave indifferent. The careful cuisine is intimately Bellunese, as evidenced by the minestrone d'orzo e fagioli, a barley and bean soup. Fresh pasta and game dishes are equally excellent. Finish your meal with a glass of amaro dello speziale. Three simple, comfortable guest rooms are also available.

At Bruno, the pasta is made home, the fish is fresh (the soup of fish is delicious) and the meat is tender. Only criticism: It's so good that sometimes we would have liked to have a bit more… The server is nice. All this at a "low" price!

Far from the beaten track, here is an address as we like them, discreet and picturesque at the same time. From the terrace to the interior room, everything is meticulously small and terribly pretty. So small that the chef Virgilio only proposes in his menu the arrivals of the market, for lack of having the place for too important reserves in his kitchen. His wife Larisa will serve you, depending on the ingredients of the day, a golden fritto misto overflowing from her dish, a delicious seafood risotto or scallops with asparagus.

Franco Barbato's little shop is full of best pizza diplomas. This time, unlike all competitors, the pizza share is not triangular but square, with genovese paste (very thick, soft and crispy, underneath) and beautifully gardened with imagination and originality. To complete the table: It costs three times nothing. The passage in this ankle of the pizza is unavoidable!
