The Caravelle is the name of the miniature replica of the wooden ship in storefront, but also of this historic restaurant of Via XXII Marco, located just steps from San Moses Church and near Saint Mark Square. The bar, adjacent to the restaurant, was used by famous writers, such as Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre, during their stay in Venice for years after the war. Inside, a cozy atmosphere for a wooden decor that evokes old ships. A distinguished clientele, most often staying at Hotel Saturnia, is located at lunch or dinner, to taste traditional dishes prepared carefully. Beautiful selection of pasta, risotti, seafood, fish… Quick and attentive service. A very good address.

A haven for young artists and patrons of the arts in the 1950s and 1960s, this neighborhood restaurant began a new life a few years ago thanks to the meeting of a talented sommelier and an inventive chef. They cultivate the reputation of this table by suggesting careful menus. Risotti, spaghetti, fish, tartar and burrata make up the menu, accompanied by a selection of Italian wines. For dessert, try the exquisite lemon pie.

A nice address at very good prices, easily reached on foot from the piazzale Roma. It takes its name from a famous thoroughbred, winner of many races at French racecourses. We appreciated the well-kept setting and the flowered garden where we can settle down when the weather is nice. The Venetian cuisine offers beautiful plates of fish cooked with talent (spaghetti with cuttlefish ink, scallops). The products are fresh, and the dishes, including bread and pasta, are homemade.

Along the Fondamenta Nuove, facing the magnificent lagoon landscape that overlooks the northern islands, here is a restaurant that sets the bar high both for the setting and the content of the plate. Inside, the atmosphere is modern and cozy, and outside, a terrace that floats on the water for even more relaxed meals. Behind the stove, ingredients are assembled with a permanent quest for culinary refinement. Those in a hurry will simply stop by the bar for an espresso with brioche, or for the evening spritz and cicchetti.

Interesting address, listed in the Michelin Venice for 20 years. This restaurant is both traditional and a bit whimsical, a good table where history, art and gastronomy are combined in a refined setting. The staff is dedicated to digging into the dungeons of Venetian cuisine to unearth amazing recipes. The langoustine with sweet and sour sauce, with onions, almonds and raisins, for example, is amazing... Just like the cellar, which is full of vintages. The restaurant is located in an old sacristy that until ten years ago housed the art gallery of a famous master glassmaker. On the way between the vaporetto pier and the center of Torcello, this restaurant offers a very pleasant setting and quality cuisine. Romantic atmosphere under the nicely furnished veranda or in the gazebo of the beautiful garden; delicious and beautifully presented dishes. After the optics, the pizza? Without a joke, this little troquet competes with Pizza Al Volo (see «Recover» - «Dorsoduro»). Known for its vaulted ceiling and its rustic universe, Taverna San Trovaso is a Dorsodurian institution now very frequented by tourists, almost too much! Fast and efficient service, at lunch and dinner. On the menu, Venetian cuisine (but not only) and hearty dishes, usually meticulously prepared, with a focus on grilled fish, plenty of seafood, plates of pasta (spaghetti with squid ink, etc.) and tender pizzas, whether Diavola, Viennese, Simone or Giulia.

A classic in Treviso since 1921. In the small room of this inn-like trattoria there is an air of yesteryear, while on the plate you will find the specialties of Veneto and Treviso (bigoli in sauce, roast duck served on a bed of potatoes and red radish). True to its name, the duck (oca) will be offered in all its forms. The menu is renewed regularly, according to the seasons. The decor is warm and authentic, with a wooden ceiling, old photographs, bottles of wine here and there... A good address.

Here you can try the filet with speck or the potato and lard ravioli and, in season, tempting game recipes and fresh mushroom dishes. Also hotel: the rooms are warm and welcoming.

Located between Campo San Campo and Ca'Foscari University, this large bar (70 seats) has all the attributes of its local competitors, except that here you will be offered access to 4 Internet stations. It serves traditional panini, tramezzini and company, but also good artisanales, textured fruits and fresh fruit and vegetable juices.

We read on the menu, subtitle, "The Best Pizza," and that's true. 90 types of pizza, so say the choice is embarrassing. The decor is far from beautiful, so to say: it's not beautiful at all (road style style). Space is small and fast service. Nothing surprising in sum, if it's these huge pizzas, good to fall! The service is pleasant, pretty fast.

The walls are decorated with old farming tools and the menu includes tasty dishes such as baccalà alla vicentina (codfish with milk), rabbit with herbs and cheese cooked with mushrooms. A special mention for the polenta that reigns in a good part of the dishes, to be enjoyed with cheese, meat or even snails. Charcuterie, cheese and desserts will not leave you indifferent either.

This traditional restaurant in the historic center of Belluno occupies an old wine warehouse. It is an intimate and warm setting, with beautiful woodwork and impeccably white tablecloths. Fish, shellfish and crustaceans cooked and seasoned in a way that is as simple as it is delicious, bringing out all their flavors. You won't soon forget their pasta, gnocchi and risotti as well as the beautiful terrace with a breathtaking view of the lagoon. Fish lovers will be delighted (raw fish carpaccio, mussels marinated in tomato, scallops baked in the oven...).

Nestled in a quiet street 500 meters from Piazza Arena, this traditional bistro has long been a favorite among regulars who appreciate both the food and the setting. The walls are decorated with old paintings and photos of Verona's former soccer and rugby teams; the menu includes fresh local products: bigoli with duck sauce, trout tartar with grilled vegetables, beef fillet with gorgonzola or Amarone liqueur, and grilled perch fillet with Soave wine. Elegant brewery founded by the Austrian Otto Wipflinger, who was the first to produce, import and distribute Austrian and German beers in Italy. The establishment is still in the hands of the founder's family. The rooms are decorated in Liberty style, with painted ceilings, woodwork and mirrors, leather benches and exceptional seats. On the plate, the cuisine is faithful to tradition, honest in its prices as in its portions.

A rustic and authentic trattoria just the way we like it: wooden interior, exposed beams and rustic chairs and tables topped by crockery on the walls. The tablecloths are canvas and the service is very attentive. As for the cooking, rich and tasty as at grandmother's, it will delight the good forks. Specialities include polenta and fish, chops sprinkled with cheese scales, good pasta dishes with stew or mushrooms and apple or pear and chocolate pie. Excellent value for money.

The essentials of regional and Italian cuisine will be served with a smile in this small bistro nestled on the banks of the canal, between the workshops of the Murano glass masters. On the plate, polenta with squid ink, spaghetti with clams, fried squid, but also spaghetti with tomato sauce and lasagna Bolognese. The pizzas are also part of the party. In the upper part of the village, not far from Petrarch's house, here is a very nice little address between wine bar and bistro. We go there to sip a local wine accompanied by beautiful cheese boards, cold cuts and bruschette, but also to eat a salad or a pasta dish. A warm and colorful interior room for the autumn days, and for the nice days, a little surprise: the back terrace offers a 360° view on the surrounding plain. An address with a quite impersonal decor but where the pizzas are varied and delicate (thin dough and easy to digest: gluten-free option for intolerants). You can also try other dishes, such as the Schiz alla Bellunese, a specialty of fresh cheese, typical of the province of Belluno, which is cooked in a frying pan with butter and salt. The taste is not very strong but it is still an interesting discovery! You can also try spaghetti with seafood or a salted strudel with red radish from Treviso.

The culinary offering at this stylish trattoria just outside the city walls is nothing short of original, with checkered tablecloths and a terrace overlooking the castle setting the tone. A rather rare address in Cortina, and above all a practical and inexpensive stop for a snack in the heart of the resort. In this unpretentious and well-located shop, pizzas are prepared to take away, even if, in summer and winter, a few small outdoor and indoor tables also allow you to sit on the terrace to enjoy your share on the spot. Nothing to say about the quality. The pizzas have a thin and crunchy dough, the toppings are generous, with a choice of tomatoes, mozzarella, mushrooms, salami, peppers and ricotta, among others.

Contrary to what its name suggests, this restaurant is not located at the Pordoi Pass, but in the heart of the village of Arabba. This mountain inn and restaurant with geraniums on the balconies and wainscoting everywhere is renowned for its excellent regional cuisine at reasonable prices. There are specialities with nettle, speck from the Alto Adige and other specialities in sauce that keep body and soul together with the cold. There are also excellent pizzas.

It's very small but ultra warm! We love this friendly osteria with its rustic decoration and authentic family cooking. The owner supervises the room and places the guests in a benevolent manner before serving them good, nourishing and tasty dishes, typical of the Veneto region. A generous kitchen that seasoned its gorgonzola gnocchi, polenta stew and mascarpone cream tiramisu abundantly. A good address, appreciated by locals and tourists alike. Nice selection of wines and cheeses.

Located on the first floor of an elegant villa with a facade featuring pretty stone balconies, this discreet restaurant offers a menu of typical lagoon cuisine. Inside, there are two pleasant dining rooms, brightened by beautiful Murano glass, and, in summer, an intimate vine-covered terrace. The cuisine of the sea takes pride of place: cod with polenta, crab, cuttlefish... but also pasta dishes and fish (bass, sea bream, sole). Attentive service. Overcrowded in high season, reservations are highly recommended. A good Lido restaurant.

L'Oie Blanche (in Italian L'Oca Bianca) is the nice name of this small neighborhood trattoria. Here, at Ugo's, proximity rhymes with quality cuisine! So, after having taken care to reserve your table in advance, it is preferable, you will generally not regret the experience. The establishment offers a world cuisine, between tradition and modernity, serving tagliolini with asparagus, baccalà alla portoghese, falafel recipes or köfte with tzatziki. An address with a good quality-price ratio.

Behind the Excelsior Hotel, a few steps from the Festival Palace and the Casino, Tavernetta offers refined cuisine featuring dishes from Venetian and Tuscan cuisine. On the menu, however, pasta, meat and fish take the lion's share. Riccardo and his wife Adrianna have passed on their taste for good things to their son Ottavio, who has become a sommelier. Nice selection of bottles, to be tasted with patience. It is also possible to come here for a simple drink, as the restaurant also serves as a bar.
