Built in the early th century, this Royal Palace is designed to welcome the governors and princes of Savoy during their stay in Nice. Philibert, Duke of Savoy, is financing the construction of the building. After Nice was connected to France in 1860, the building changed its vocation and housed the Alpes-Maritimes Prefecture. Recently, the offices moved to the new administrative centre east of Nice, the palace became the residence of the president of the general onseil and the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes. The neo-classical façade, designed by Sabatier, was completed in 1869. The interior decoration is entrusted to Jules Chéret, famous international painter. This cannon tower was built in 1634 and reinforced by Vauban, and served as protection in Toulon harbour crossing its fire with those of the Royal tower. To go from Koenig-sur-Méouge to Ribiers, you cross the famous gorges of Méouge. Located 5 km south of Laragne, the Méouge Gorges are classified as a biological reserve and represent a real gem for the department. Designated as a Marvel of the High Alps, the Gorges de la Méouge are bathed in heat and light and are a place for bathing and walking.

These deep, winding gorges surround a fiery torrent that leapt, tourbillons shape, water holes, polished pebble beaches, natural reservoirs…

Even lovers of the old stones will be happy, admiring an old Roman bridge with three arches, still in very good condition, as well as the remains of a mill that was conquered by a flood in 1901. Grass geologists overlooks huge blocks of rock forming beautiful ivory-coloured strata. The curious will read with profit the explanatory panels of the fauna and flora: you are here in a Natura 2000 site full of Alpine, Provençal, Mediterranean, Iberian and even North Africa plants. So cool in summer, Méouge can also be lowered to kayaking in the spring or flown in plane or paragliding: from the site of Chabre, from where we have a superb panoramic view!

Once you arrive at the bottom of the Estoublasse Valley, a parking lot allows you to park your car to reach the river on foot. For the more lazy or those who don't want to wait for bathing, many basins basins will allow you to cool off immediately. For those who like to walk a little, many trails set by the NFB lead to the heart of the gorge. Among other things, a 2-hour loop is easy to discover this canyon, 200 m deep in places. The gorges are classified as "biological reserves" and are a refuge area for many animal and plant species. A stroke of heart for lovers of nature!

At an altitude of 443 meters, the massive Gros Cerveau offers numerous walking trails and spectacular views. A botanical trail leads to the edge of the Gros Cerveau and its panoramic heights that stretches from the islands of Hyères, in the creeks of Cassis-Marseille and the entire chain of Sainte-Baume. You can visit the cave of Garou. Follow the signs of GR 51 in red, white, blue and green. The walking routes are available at the reception of the Tourism Office of Ollioules and it will tell you the difficult circuits.
