NOTRE-DAME-DE-LÉRINS MONASTERY AND ABBEY
An abbey located on the beautiful, peaceful island of Saint-Honorat, with the monastery tower, an imposing seaside keep.
Founded around 410 on the island of Saint-Honorat, Lérins Abbey is home to a Cistercian community. Its medieval tower, listed since 1840, bears witness to a rich past, having housed the monks from 1392 to 1788. The church invites visitors in search of authenticity and offers spiritual retreats. The monks, guardians of the island's traditions, cultivate 8 hectares of vines and 150 olive trees to create wines and liqueurs, including the emblematic Lerina.
