THE GORGES OF THE REGALON
Impressive gorges at Mérindol, formed over 6 million years ago as the Alps rose.
The Luberon boasts a high concentration of gorges and canyons. The Gorges de Regalon are one of the most spectacular in the region. It lies to the south of the Petit Luberon, at the end of Cheval-Blanc and on the edge of Mérindol. You enter a canyon carved by streams into the limestone massifs of the Luberon. The hike lasts 2.5 hours on average, and covers a distance of 6.5 km. You have to cross an olive grove before reaching the entrance to these impressive gorges. The walk forms a loop, with a return to the starting point.
