Kwality is located near the Mall Road Shopping Market. It lacks a touch of decoration, but the place is still comfortable with its booths and armchairs. The place is well kept. The staff is friendly, which makes up for it. The food is good and the choice is vast: burgers, pizzas, sizzlers, but also good traditional Indian cuisine. You will tell us about it... This is also one of the few interesting options in the Chanyakapuri area, where if all the embassies gather, there are not many restaurants.

Open since 1962, Makhan is an iconic restaurant in the city. A large, somewhat impersonal room welcomes customers. On the menu, as you might expect, are fish and chicken specialties. Every rickshaw driver knows this address and you will have no trouble finding it. The Brijwasi Royal Hotel has the best restaurant in town, Status, and a bar, Cheers, a rarity in a holy city. You will dine there under a large portrait of Krishna of course! Tasty Indian and Chinese vegetarian dishes, but also pizzas, burgers, snacks... The bar is pleasant but a bit smoky. If it is possible to get intoxicated with alcohol and cigarettes, on the other hand, in the plate it becomes much more serious!

This neighbourhood canteen, famous for its chutneys and pickles, offers unbeatable prices. No exoticism or completeness in the menu, but the basic flavours of Gujarat cuisine which is served without fuss in a very friendly atmosphere of bric-a-brac and broc. You will be able to revel in a thali gujarati or a plate of dhokla, a very old recipe based on crushed chickpeas and a paste made from fermented rice.

With its wood panelling, velvet benches and subdued lighting, this restaurant has a false air of a London pub. But when it comes to the menu, you're in India! It offers a wide range of northern specialties, including solid kebabs, as well as a few Chinese starters. The lack of competition in the Civil Lines area causes a slight sloppiness in the plate. It's certainly good, but not exciting, especially at this price. Decent choice of wine, including imported wines and a very nice cocktail list, to be consumed with moderation!

Halfway between Mughal and Lebanese cuisine, the address is known by all the regulars of the neighborhood for its reasonable prices. Shawarma, seekh kebab, chicken tikka or chicken dhaba, the chef's specialty, are some of the classics of the house to be enjoyed on the go. Between two shopping trips, this small vegetarian café has a cosy atmosphere with its wooden tables and wicker armchairs. You can enjoy an Indian, Chinese or continental dish at a reduced price. Paneer tikka and vegetable pakora are good for a simple snack while the festa special thali satisfies the big appetite. The milkshakes and lassi are so creamy that you can finish them with a spoon! As far as hygiene is concerned, no worries: the waiters sing while passing the sponge on the tables and, behind his counter, the old manager watches over the grain.

The purists say of this dhaba that it serves as the puri and not of the paranthas. Always it is that the choice is vast (approximately 30 paranthas different) and that the result is delicious. We recommend the mix parantha to you, to fall, probably one of best of the neighborhood! Like all the cheap restaurants of Parantewali gali, cleanliness leaves something to be desired, but the continuous flow ensures the freshness of the products. Only problem, the menu is in Hindi, but you will easily find somebody to guide you in your choice in English.

With this restaurant, named in honor of Nehru, begins the corner of Mughal specialties. If some people prefer it to its competitor Karim's, it is because it is less crowded but mostly because it belongs to a family of butchers who choose better, it seems, the pieces of meat... Here, each meal has its own dish: at breakfastthe egg curry, at lunch the mutton nihari, while at dinner it's time for the very spicy kebabs. However, for the more accustomed palates, the biryani is not up to the mark.

This strictly vegetarian restaurant is located within the gigantic Lotus Temple complex, on the edge of ISKCON Temple Road. No need to venture too far to find it. The cuisine served is based on the repertoire of the south of the country and works wonders with simple ingredients. The saatvik khana prepared with garlic, onions and eggs is a success, as is the generous vegetarian thaliflavored with 56 spices. You will surely share your table with some Krishna devotees.

On the upper floors, the tavern, which offers a wide choice of correct dishes but at prices well above average, as well as alcohol, wine and beer. The Indian recipes are excellent, especially those cooked in the tandoor which are the specialty of the place. The setting is resolutely mountainous with woodwork. Sports events broadcast on the screens even give it an Irish pub feel.

At Mocambo, you are definitely not in India anymore: the chic and cozy setting first surprises you, then the specialties of the house take you far away from the Ganges. Impossible to miss the door of the entrance of this restaurant with the doorman proudly displaying a majestic glossy moustache and a suit worthy of the greatest Rajput warriors. Inside, the setting is kitschy. A dark pirate cave atmosphere, a tree planted in the center of a pasteboard rock, 3D murals, shards of mirrors and adobe walls decorated with naïve paintings mix genres. However, the restaurant serves excellent North Indian cuisine with tasty curries and spicy kebabs.

You will find the classic mutter or palak paneer, dhal, butter chicken as well as some tasty kebabs and tandooris. The establishment is licensed and you can sip a beer or a whisky - in moderation - while watching the lake.

This shop was recommended to us as the one that serves the best chai in India. While we cannot verify the truth of this statement, the Bengali Tea Shop does serve delicious spiced tea. You only have to see the crowd that rushes in at all hours to be sure. In summer, when the temperature becomes unbearable, you can cool down with a delicious lassi. Samosas and parathas will accompany your break in the shade of a tree. The sign is only in Hindi but you will easily find the establishment.
