The Longtail Boat, which used to be the most recommendable restaurant on the old and popular Seafood Street, has moved to Khlong Road, the road leading to Noppharat Thara. It is still an excellent option for a quality dinner. First, for its chic, dimmed and romantic atmosphere. Then for its delicious cuisine, with a focus on fish and seafood, which you can choose directly from the stalls or from the vivariums. Also excellent cocktails. Reservations recommended for groups.

The restaurant has a modern and friendly setting with pleasant music in the background. You can sit in the large garden, in the air-conditioned room, around tables with chairs or cushions, or enjoy a good iced coffee on bar stools outside. This restaurant located in a former Sino-Portuguese shophouse has a crazy charm and the cuisine is excellent. The dishes, often made with homemade products, are fragrant and delicately presented. A warm café located in an old building in the old town has recently changed its name while keeping more or less the same concept as its predecessor, the Old Times Café. Excellent coffee, breakfast formulas, snacks (excellent pad thai among others), pastries... to be taken rocked by a soft jazz or lounge music. This restaurant's setting is not very pleasant, and it's right on the road. And yet, you must try Sole Mare, whose owner is transalpine and offers excellent pizzas, homemade pasta, meats, salads... This small restaurant, masterfully managed by Frank, is a great success. The tables are set in a large open terrace or in an air-conditioned room. Didine's menu offers very good French dishes (salmon tartar, duck with orange sauce, Chateaubriand steak, etc.) but also pizzas and Thai dishes, prepared fresh from the market. Located just before Raya Restaurant, this small, unassuming establishment serves authentic Thai cuisine, including excellent seafood specialties. The plates are colorful and the cooking times perfect. The food is really very good, and the prices are affordable. Please note that some dishes are quite spicy, as they are designed for Thai palates, so don't hesitate to ask if you'd like your dish not spicy.

Close to the Democracy Monument, this establishment is a sure bet for lunch or dinner in the city's historic center. This tiny establishment with its pastel-blue walls is well worth a visit. It's close to Wat Phumin. Here you can sample some excellent noodle soup specialties from the north of the country: the famous Khao Soi and Nam Ngeaw. The Khao Soi follows the Nan recipe: a spicy broth with a dash of concentrated coconut milk, with a choice of beef or chicken. Other more classic noodles are available, as well as roast pork over rice. Right next door is Hot Bread, a small, friendly restaurant offering more international cuisine.

This small night market is pleasant, well laid out and popular. There are few stalls, but diversity is the order of the day and it is easy to find what you want. Good pizzas at low prices, grilled meat, fish and seafood, Thai food, sushi, Middle Eastern food, rotis, sticky rice with mango... One can easily sit down because the turnover is rather fast. There are also a few well-executed dishes, such as the famous pork hong le, one of the region's specialties, a mild curry with garlic, ginger and a mild flavor. Also on the menu: noodles in tomato sauce, fried pork with rice, chicken noodles, pad kra pao with seafood, etc. A pleasant place for a lunch break. Udon Thani's most unusual venue. With subdued lighting and trumpets on the ceiling, the room welcomes musicians every evening. The decor is absolutely original and artistic. On the culinary side, local and international dishes are served at very reasonable prices. The bar is well stocked. The cocktails, however, are a weak point. Of course, the clientele is young and up-to-the-minute. It's the perfect place to spend a good evening, especially as a couple, without necessarily frequenting establishments run by Westerners.

A small local restaurant located on the road between Choeng Mon Beach and Wat Plai Laem. Only 6 tables, 4 of them in bamboo booths. Mainly frequented by local customers, this small restaurant offers classic Thai cuisine at very reasonable prices. On the menu, pad ka prao, pad thai, soups, fried rice, omelets, curries... Everything is very good! You can accompany your meal with a cold beer. Fast and very friendly service.

An address specialized in fish and seafood, very popular with the locals, which is always telling! The place, located by the sea at the junction of Ao Nang and the beginning of Noppharat Thara beach, is quite large and open to the outside. On the menu, seafood dishes: fish, crabs, prawns, shrimps, lobsters, squids, mussels, oysters... To be chosen as a dish or by the kilo. Each product is declined in several recipes. It is rather expensive, but it is really excellent! In more the place profits from a pretty sight...

This new restaurant is located on the street opposite the Clock Tower, opposite the Bavarian Beer House. The modern setting is pleasant. You can choose between the air-conditioned dining room and the large outdoor terrace. On the menu, a wide choice of burgers, of course. They are carefully presented and served restaurant-style. Choice of bread for the buns, good meat, varied recipes, to be accompanied by excellent home fries or a surprising salad. Other dishes include pasta, salmon filet, seafood... Recommended.

Roi Thai - The Original Thai Cuisine has been in existence in Chiang Mai and Bangkok for over 30 years. Koh Lanta's menu has the same formula: organic cuisine and traditional Thai dishes on the menu. The dishes are hearty and well presented, but some can be a little bland. It also offers cooking classes for the curious. The meal is taken on the terrace by the sea, the view is breathtaking. The attention to the customer also needs to be improved. Anyway, we go there more to enjoy the spotlight than to cook.

The best Japanese restaurant in Hua Hin is in the Centara Grand Beach Resort, the former Hilton. It serves authentic Japanese cuisine, traditional and contemporary, executed with great mastery and presented in an artistic manner. Teppanyaki, tempura, sushi, sashimi, maki, Kobe beef... It's all delicious. We scroll through the menu on an ipad and order directly. The large, airy terrace is appreciated. Beware, the prices charged are very (too?) high, even for a luxury hotel restaurant

Established for almost 20 years in Hua Hin, this restaurant serves Thai fish and seafood specialties. The dishes are delicately presented but do not manage to convince completely. You can choose to be served in a well laid out garden, on the terrace of the pavilion with its Lanna style architecture, or in an air-conditioned room. The view is magnificent: the restaurant overlooks the beach and the hill where the Khao Takiab temple stands. A place to visit mainly for its very charming setting.

The resort's restaurant is open to non-residents, allowing them to take advantage of the resort's facilities and privileged position on Sunrise Beach. During the day, you can sit back and enjoy the beach and delicious Thai food and drinks at reasonable prices. Every evening in high season, a seafood barbecue is offered, with the possibility of dining on the terrace, with your feet in the water. Peaceful and romantic atmosphere.

Close to Wat Mahathat and on the same street as the night market, this small restaurant specializes in boat noodles, an Ayutthaya noodle specialty. The boat noodles have a pronounced flavor, and contain a choice of pork or beef, different types of noodles (vermicelli, thick noodles, etc.), soy sauce and pickled beans. The soup is quite strong and sweet. The plus? The dining room is open and service is fast. You can choose small bowls of different recipes, and several beverages are available.

Elegant establishment located at the end of an alleyway between Wat Pho and Wat Arun. The decor is a pleasant blend of traditional and industrial influences. The dining room is warm and inviting, with lots of wood panelling and furniture. The cuisine is simple but tasty, with traditional dishes that work well. It's a little pricey, but you're also paying for the location and the view of Wat Arun (although work was underway, blocking the view when we visited in June 2023). An original place to try.

Here's a little boui-boui as we like them, located in an old house on stilts along the Chao Phraya River, at the Tha Tian pier where you take the ferry to Wat Arun. You'll be transported back to the days of old Bangkok. It's frequented by locals who come for the simple, cheap and good food, but also for its terrace overlooking the Temple of Dawn, to be enjoyed with a cold beer in hand.

The dining room is open and airy, and it can get pretty hot in front of the barbecue!

Close to Khao San Road and Phra Sumen fort, this café-restaurant is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya, as its name indicates, and benefits from a superb view on the Rama VIII bridge. Nice terrace and air-conditioned room if the heat bothers you. The menu offers good Thai specialties, including dishes with seafood and sea products, but also Western recipes, such as pizzas, burgers, grilled meat... One can also come there to have just a hot drink, a snack or a glass.

Here is an establishment that shines by its simplicity! The menu is limited, with a few traditional recipes: a very good pad thai, panang curry, fried rice, pad krapao, chicken with cashew nuts, sticky rice with mango... As the cooks are Muslims, pork is obviously not served. The room is full almost every night. The reason? It's good and cheap! Choice of drinks and fresh fruit juices. This is probably the most interesting night market of the island. It is a typical Thai market mainly attended by Thai people... You might as well say that the food offered is authentic! On a large and well organized space, stalls propose all kinds of food: traditional dishes, skewers, sweets... If the prices are low, the food is often spicy! Tables and chairs are placed here and there to eat quietly. Some stands also sell clothes, T-shirts, etc.

The banh mi (sandwiches), sausages and egg rolls are excellent. The place is very popular with the locals, so you can go there with your eyes closed.
