This small Sicilian restaurant is ideally located just a few steps from the imperial forums, housed in a small, obscure, but very cool room in the summer whose entrance is discreet, from large stairs. Kitchen and family service, goguenardes of the boss, beautiful plates at reasonable prices, the address is perfect for a stopover at noon. Delicious antipasti plate.

Some like it, others find it overdone: The Cantinola is a tourist restaurant where prices are really affordable, but low-priced plates. The whole is nevertheless correct without being exceptional, especially fish dishes, and the boss who speaks all languages offers a rose to the ladies at the end of the meal. A gastronomic step a few kilometers from the center. But the journey is very good, given the quality of the kitchen: recipes like shrimp and bolt gnocchis, roast lamb chops, snails mired in sauce and carpaccio to truffle. An emblematic establishment in downtown Aosta, with a decoration that's... surprising! Cowbells hang above the tables and counter, while old working tools and, above all, a fine collection of copper cheese-making cauldrons hang on the walls of the small dining room. The menu is rich, rigorously traditional (charcuterie and fondues in the spotlight!), and the raw materials are of excellent quality. The owner will talk to you about the history of his region and even let you taste his homemade alcohol.

In the main street, the "Maison du Bandit", in reference to an ancestor of the owner who, like the mountain dwellers of yesteryear, traded illegally with Switzerland to escape poverty, is a very interesting little establishment. Managed by a Frenchwoman, it offers Valle d'Aosta-style catering, whether for a frugal meal or a hearty dinner. The ingredients are of the highest quality and sourced as far as possible from the region: you can even choose the piece of meat you eat! Good wine list. Pleasant terrace.

One of the best wine libraries in the center. Amidst the shelves displaying dozens of different labels, you can enjoy a quick meal seated next to a barrel, choosing one of the dishes of the day accompanied, of course, by a glass of wine. The wines on offer come mainly from the Aosta Valley and neighbouring Piedmont. Both the best-known brands and smaller producers are represented, and it's easy to come across ampelographic rarities or niche but sought-after productions.

In a hamlet near Pontboset, Le Balcon sur la vallée is a typical, family-run establishment that lives up to its name. Indeed, from its terrace, the view embraces in a single glance the uncontaminated Brenve valley, with its forests and waterfalls. The 70-seat restaurant offers Valle d'Aostan cuisine, as well as dishes based on spontaneous herbs and wild plants. The owners have also set up a dormitory in the hamlet's former school for hikers on the nearby Haute Route^no. 2.

This restaurant spreads out its terrace on a small square away from view. Beautiful wooden tables are scattered throughout the space and a sweet smell of Italian films from the 1990s sets the mood. A delicious antipasti buffet is served at a low price. The menu is typical, fresh and tasty, with a lot of meat and fish offered simply grilled at low prices. This is the signature of this house: simplicity and taste above all, worked according to family recipes. The Catania pasta with swordfish caponata are little marvels.

This fishmonger's restaurant is a novel and practical concept when you don't know the names of the shellfish, seafood and fish you're after. All you have to do is point to the fish on the display, because here, too, fish is sold by weight. It's bound to be ultra-fresh. We recommend tasting raw antipasti, tartars and carpacci of the highest quality, or cooked, according to your taste. If you like fish, this is an address to remember. On the seafront of Giardini Naxos, this is one of the restaurants where you can enjoy dishes meticulously prepared with noble ingredients, in copious quantities for a price within the standards of the seaside resort. The steamed sea bass is extraordinary, the prawns with pistachio, the swordfish alla griglia, the tuna Sicilian style with caramelized onions, the linguine with prawns and for dessert the panna cotta are highly recommended. Don't forget to book your table, as the address is very popular with the locals.

On the port, a famous fish trattoria whose owners have been handing down the torch, or rather the stoves, from father to son for many years. It's the ideal address for lovers of very fresh fish, cooked in a simple and healthy way. Specialties include fried, grilled and marinated fish. The pasta, too, is renowned and well worth trying. On the other hand, service times are sometimes a little long. But the magnificent setting easily compensates for this minor inconvenience...

On the main shopping street of Porto Cesareo, we recommend this pleasant restaurant and its cuisine with the flavours of Puglia. Fresh fish of the day and seafood are very present on the menu, such as mussels gratinated in a wood-fired oven, fried squid, tasty linguine with mussels and vongole (shellfish) and various antipasti from the sea to taste everything! The pizzas are also successful, baked over a wood fire and coloured with local products, such as the beautiful Pugliese. Reservation recommended in summer.

A must in the heart of the city, this well-kept osteria offers traditional Monferrato cuisine, with interesting authentic recipes to sample. In the spotlight: homemade pasta, local classics such as knife-beaten raw beef tartare, famous boiled meats (excellent bagna cauda!) and, in season, truffles, of course, and their many culinary variations. In the heart of the countryside, this traditional farmhouse (the cascina of northern Italy) is a complete change of scenery if you think that Milan is only 40 km away. The chef and patron Stefano Rebuli offers dishes of the best regional tradition, tinted with a touch of creativity, rigorously seasonal. For example, the risotto with chicken livers and guinea fowl with white grapes, to be discovered or savoured by the connoisseur. Homemade pasta is perfect, vegetables seasoned with fresh herbs, well grilled meats and delicate desserts.

A bacaro that is both an osteria, with its wooden tables close together and set up for about twenty diners, and a great restaurant thanks to its culinary offer. Fish, shellfish and crustaceans are the priority. They are the basis of good dishes such as tuna carpaccio, octopus gazpacho, or grilled fish. Tagliatelle with boletus or gnocchi with ragout do not leave indifferent either. What makes the little extra, it is the finesse and the creativity that the chef shows to deliver all these recipes.

The Vespolina, just a stone's throw from Piazza Ducale, is the place to be in Vigevano, for its beautiful and well-stocked cellar of regional wines, as well as for its dishes that are not lacking in originality. Burgers with very good meat, curious salads, well garnished sandwiches and boards, as well as some originalities such as the lacquered tuna, or the sautéed pork sandwich with its onion rings. Very popular also ataperitivo time by a young clientele who love good wines.

With copper pans on the walls, doily lamps and the bells of Pavia's Duomo echoing nearby, the atmosphere here is deliciously timeless. At Peo (another name for the osteria, named after founder Pompeo), the menu evolves with the seasons. You'll find dishes typical of Lombardy: antipasti to share, featuring charcuterie, risotti to die for and expertly cooked meats. All to be accompanied by a particularly renowned Oltrepò Pavese wine, such as Buttafuoco.

Young and friendly address, just a few steps away from Piazza Vecchia in the Upper Town. This small temple of beer, which stretches widely on the pavement in Piazza Mascheroni in the summer, is always full of happy drinkers who come to relax after a day's work. An accomplished pub that serves only homemade beers, the Osteria della Birra also does well in terms of catering with tasty paninis, boards of cold meats and cheese and abundant pasta dishes

On a pretty square in the center of Asti, in the shadow of the San Martino church, this is an excellent osteria where local cuisine, tinged with flavors from neighboring Liguria, is here perhaps a little better than elsewhere. Among the dishes on the menu, tajarin with sausage sauce, fried anchovies, vitel tonné with tuna sauce and white bunet with Langhe hazelnuts are worth a detour, but everything is absolutely delicious. The dishes are beautifully presented and the wine list is extensive. Pleasant summer terrace.

It's one of the best tables in town. If the room is not very bright and the mountain chalet decoration is inevitably a bit kitsch, the plate is delicious and copious and the service is impeccable. A la carte, Venetian specialities adapted to the season. Special mention for the tasty sliced beef and its red fruit sauce. The house speciality remains nevertheless the grilled meat, minimum 500 grams all the same! The wine list matches the dishes and offers a large choice of Italian vintages. The homemade desserts are also tempting.

Both restaurant and bar, it is the living heart of Arabba where people come to eat and drink at all hours. For they are the only kitchens open non-stop (limited to pizzas outside meal times), very convenient at the time of closing time. We tasted a delicious Capricciosa pizza. Warm and friendly welcome by a smiling and jovial team. Mountain atmosphere with local TV, music a little too loud in the background (you have to speak loudly to discuss) and mischievous old men at the counter.

On the sea side, the pizzeria restaurant La Dolce Vita welcomes you every evening under the gaze of Italian movie stars. Discover nearly 87 different pizzas cooked on a wood fire according to an ancestral recipe concocted from four types of organic flour. Each week, a different type of flour is featured: chestnut, spelt, etc. Specialized in the preparation of mixed fry, fritters and tempura of seasonal vegetables, the restaurant also offers a delicious tuna tartar or Fassona from Piedmont as well as Tomawack entrecote...

This restaurant serves homemade food in the pure Sicilian tradition in a setting renovated in 2020. Too bad, we liked the 60's atmosphere with its speckled tile floor and rustic wooden chairs and the food seemed better before. Now it's all white modern furniture! No matter, here happiness is in the plate. For starters, think of the triptych of octopus salad, sardine balls in sweet and sour sauce and swordfish caponata. Then spaghetti with squid ink and the famous fish couscous.

Terrible privilege: in this new restaurant we have a view of the sea, especially from the terrace shaded by palm trees, because the place is on a pontoon surrounded by water, a little happiness. But the address is also worth a visit for the plate and the decoration. Colourful, cosy sofas and well laid out tables whet your appetite. You can simply have an aperitif and share a delicious gourmet pizza in front of the sunset or opt for a more consistent, but also more expensive dish because here you pay for the view, the style and the novelty.

An address not to be missed, slightly above the city. The restaurant, warm and welcoming, offers two tasting menus, the first traditional with 4 dishes from the menu and the second of 10 to 12 dishes chosen by the chef. Original and delicious, a high quality culinary journey and, even if there are many dishes, you eat them all! Good value for money, not to mention that the chef Peppe Guida has a Michelin star.

The restaurant, based on the site of a former monastery, high up on a hill, enjoys a beautiful panorama. A charming and suggestive place. A large terrace overlooking the swimming pool allows you to enjoy the view and the tranquillity of the countryside. The menu offers a wide choice of dishes, from international cuisine to regional recipes from the lake. A cuisine of quality, based on local products such as the excellent olive oil produced by the owner and his family, one of the pluses of the place!

This restaurant-bar is hidden in a very narrow street, right next to Rialto. The restaurant serves excellent authentic Venetian cuisine at the table, as well as tasty cicchetti to enjoy at the bar on the go. The collection of rums, wines and whiskies is impressive. Regular events are organized, from wine tastings to jazz concerts to the piano available to guests, making it a very lively place.

This address offers both a restaurant with typical and refined dishes of the region, with excellent seasonal products, and a grocery store with a wide selection of wines among others. The menu favours seafood, with grilled fish of the day, delicious fish and seafood tartars and mussels in tempura. There is also pasta and beautiful pieces of meat. A beautiful setting - the restaurant is located in a 13th century palace - run since 1979 by an important figure of the restoration in Brindisi.

Both deli and restaurant, this establishment in the quiet village of Stigliano offers Tuscan produce: meats, oils, pasta, honey, jams, biscuits... The seasonal menu "0 km" showcases tasty local production.

Don't be fooled by its name, it's not just a wine bar. When you pass the well stocked plates, you stop! The Cuban chef at this unpretentious address draws inspiration from the seasons to create creative dishes with an exotic touch. A bistronomy cuisine for gourmets. On the slate, at reasonable prices, dishes with lots of greenery, fresh fruit, fish and seafood cooked to perfection or in generous tartars. The wines are of course excellent and the waiters are smiling, efficient and friendly.

This restaurant is a cultural cradle under an architecture of great prestige. In fact, it is part of the ancient medieval fort of Trani, which was built to protect the eastern point of the port and which includes the church of Sant'Antuono (12th century). You can admire the superb panorama from the terrace. Above all, this church has become the seat of one of the best restaurants in Puglia.
