For a change from Venetian culinary delights, take a flight to Latin America. Guacamole, ceviche, tacos, enchiladas... Bacàn puts the great classics of South American cuisine on the menu. The menu is relatively small, but there's no such thing as too much when the quality is top-notch. The dining room is neat, sober and contemporary, and the atmosphere charming. And there are very few restaurants in Venice where you can sit down after 10.30pm. A good address, in short, that we recommend. On the downside, reservations are recommended.

Behind a discreet front, a small establishment with a refined decoration, just like its kitchen. Chef Angela draws her inspiration from local culinary traditions and local produce to create gourmet plates full of flavour. The menu is divided into a land and a sea menu, and one is invited to travel from one to the other to taste fish carpaccios with citrus fruits, orecchiette with capocollo and bean purée or risotto with saffron and black truffle, with a divine fragrance. Excellent Apulian wines.

If there was only one, it's this one! This unpretentious pizza-bar has a renovated wooden and stone frame. Nothing fancy or kitschy, but a pleasant room, just like the terrace in the heart of the village. People come here especially for its pizzas, delicious, gargantuan, perfectly cooked over a wood fire with a crispy and fine dough (Neapolitan style), among the best and cheapest in the village. Some of them have interesting mountain compositions such as the one with turnip cream, smoked provola, sausage km0 and pane grattugiato.

In this traditional Friulian restaurant - both in the setting and on the plate - recipes are passed down from grandmother to granddaughter: it is the new generation that is active in the kitchen. The menu is limited to seasonal products. Hearty dishes that are very tasty in the mountains in winter (game meat, frico, goulash...), lighter and full of crudités in summer. We also appreciate the cold meats and cheeses of altitude. Grappa with homemade herbs offered as a digestive.

Located in the centre of Brunico, this beautiful and picturesque pink house is a must-see. The interior is completely covered with old wooden fences, literally from floor to ceiling. The atmosphere is very picturesque and warm. The table is one of the most famous in the region, very popular with the locals (remember to book). But what is the secret of this restaurant? Tasty Tyrolean dishes such as canederli or deer goulash, served in generous portions, and recipes that combine fine execution with mountain rusticity.

Under the porticoes of Piazza Maria Immacolata, with its harmonious semi-oval shape, there is a small shop that sells the cheeses and capocollo of its production. You can sit at one of the few tables in the shade of the arcades for a quick lunch, and enjoy an assortment of their good products on plastic plates, accompanied by bread, a few olives and taralli. Or opt for a warm panino generously topped with capocollo and stracciatella : a treat! And at a very reasonable price.

Next to the bell tower of the Basilica of Santa Chiara. Founded in 1922 by a certain Luigi Lombardi, this historic pizzeria, although very busy, does not have the same crowds as its counterparts in Via Tribunali. If the long lines in front of Sorbillo and Di Matteo's pizzerias put you off, sit down here: the traditional Neapolitan pizzas, of similar quality, are excellent and topped with quality products. The menu also includes antipasti, pasta dishes and excellent meat and fish dishes.

At Miscusi's, the pasta served is fresh, and you can admire the pastry chef at work! You will be asked to choose the type of pasta you want(trofie, tagliatelle, paccheri...) , and your sauce before adding any ingredients such as burrata or crushed nuts. And if you prefer to rely on the know-how of the cooks, take a look at the specialities of the day on the slate. A friendly atmosphere and very affordable prices, we can only recommend. Every day, a new menu is written on the big board: legumes are in good place, as well as cereals such as millet and spelt, all served with seasonal vegetables and vegetable sauces. Several formulas allow you to taste the different preparations. You can also compose your own panino by choosing from the menu among the corn patties and the seitan and tofu burgers. Fiber and vitamins for a change from pizza and deep-fried cones!

"My passion for cooking is matched only by my love for my children," says Mamma Rosa, who keeps a watchful eye on her establishment and disappears into the kitchen after greeting her customers. In this cozy trattoria decorated with ceramics of Vietri, the products of the sea are kings. Located in a small street in the historic center, away from the hustle and bustle, this is an address that does not lack charm with its intimate room with exposed stone walls and attentive service. Aesthetic and honest cooking, a reduced menu in which everyone will find his happiness among the pasta dishes, the fish or the perfectly cooked red meat. The wine of the house, an aglianico in red or a falanghina in white, is very correct and the waiter will be able to advise you some regional wines. A friendly address for a good time.

This slow food establishment is run by a couple who demonstrate a deep sense of hospitality and sharing. The quality of the dishes is a bit uneven: prefer the fish dish (very good tuna tagliata with hazelnuts and orange) or try the pasta with genovese sauce (sauce simmered with onions and meat). Surrounded by tourist establishments, this grocery store in Via Tribunali has nevertheless managed to preserve its authenticity and a loyal local clientele that comes to buy good cured meats and delicious regional cheeses. The address offers panini generously filled with quality ingredients of controlled origin: mozzarella di bufala, capocollo from Martina Franca (a town in Puglia famous for its cold cuts), artichokes from Paestum, provolone del monaco (a cheese)... Without a doubt the best pucceria in Otranto... in Salento, some would say! Just a few steps from the castle, this little place offers delicious pucce (puccia in the singular), these small round breads typical of southern Puglia and which, generously filled with local ingredients, constitute a hearty and truly tasty lunch. You will have to choose between the pucce di mare (the one with octopus is excellent) and the pucce di terra (filled with stracciatella, cold cuts, grilled vegetables). Puccia salentina is a round bread similar to bagnat bread: here it is homemade and baked on stone, then generously garnished with quality regional products. Our favorite puccia is the Pugliese, with burrata, capocollo and thin slices of zucchini, all drizzled with extra virgin olive oil. A treat for a gourmet lunch break.

Near the main street, this discreet address in Aliano offers simple and unpretentious traditional cuisine concocted by the smiling hostess. On the menu are plates of local cold cuts, pasta dishes such as cavatelli with breadcrumbs and peperoni cruschi and meat secondi . Located at the exit of the village, the agriturismo Al Borgo is one of those places on which time seems to have no hold. The welcome, the cooking and even the prices, very cheap, contribute to this feeling of suspended time. Here, all the cold cuts are homemade, like the 'nduja which is served in small traditional terracotta warmers. The gargantuanantipasto misto offers a complete overview of this tasty Calabrian mountain cuisine, and the fresh pasta with lamb, goat or eggplant is a real treat.

A family-run restaurant that honors the Greek culture and its Italian and Greek origins. You can enjoy souvlakia (meat skewers), dolmades (stuffed vine leaves) and lestopitta bread dipped in fresh and creamy tzatziki.
