The bomb that makes up this very discreet memorial located on the outskirts of the village was found intact in a wood near the commune, after being dropped by an American plane on Christmas Day 1944. It was installed there in September 1980, in memory of the victims of the Battle of the Bulge which took place during the winter of 1944-1945. This bloody episode of the Second World War caused more than 200,000 dead, wounded and missing.

During the Von Rundstedt offensive (the first offensive of the Battle of the Bulge), the inhabitants of Bavigne promised to erect a chapel to Mary. And so, since 1953, this rounded summit, known locally as Harelerberg, has been topped by three large wooden crosses and this chapel. Until recently, a stone statue of the Virgin Mary stood on a stone pedestal, but for safety reasons it was moved to the parish church.

The solar boat offers guided tours on the lake of the Haute-Sûre, to discover its fauna and its surrounding nature. The tour lasts about 2 hours and is well worth the detour: the nature is perfectly preserved and the place looks like a real haven of peace. If you wish, the "amphibian tour" combines the boat tour with a hike along the left bank of the reservoir. Reservations are required at the Maison du Parc naturel.

The Lords of Reckingen were first mentioned in documents in the 12th century. The castle was owned by the Fock von Hübingen family in the 16th century (Ernst Fock von Hübingen, who died in 1573, is buried in the parish church in a Renaissance vault) and later by Cavalry Captain Peter Blum in 1699. In 1870 the fortress was completely razed to the ground. The medieval keep, with dimensions of 9 x 9 m and 1.5 m thick walls, was preserved over a height of 3 m, before being integrated into a private dwelling.

Inaugurated in 2012, the Diekirch History[s] Museum comprises five rooms, each dedicated to a specific thematic area. Each subject is presented according to a chronological development from prehistory to the present day. Historical exhibits such as a Roman mosaic, the work of archaeologists, the investigations of historians and the observations of geologists are on display. This museum is located on the same site as the town's Maison de la Culture.

The Syndicat d'initiative et de tourisme Dudelange provides all the necessary information on the points of interest in the town. It also organises four guided tours to discover Dudelange with the themes of the town centre, culture, architecture and the Italian Quarter. The initial duration of each of them is 2 hours. They are organised from Monday to Sunday on request and by reservation. Prices are indicated on the website.

The tour can be done on foot (Walk the Mile, a 6 km route) or by bus (Hop on Hop off).

263 bodies lie in this burial place (Deutscher Soldatenfriendhof). From 1815 to 1866, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg was part of the Prussian Union and the nearby fortress (today's Dräi Eechelen or Three Acorns Museum) was occupied by a Prussian garrison. The dead of this garrison were buried in this cemetery. French and German soldiers were buried here during the First World War and German soldiers during the Second World War.

In this cemetery (Deutscher Soldatenfriendhof) lie 10,914 German soldiers, 4,829 of whom are buried in a mass grave (Kameradengrab). 810 could not be identified. Most of them died during the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-1945. The first German cemetery outside of Germany, this place was set up by the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge (Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge). A second German cemetery (262 bodies) is located in the district of Clausen.

This centre is an old renovated farmhouse located in Manternach. Its location in the heart of the village facilitates its role as a meeting place. At the gates of the reception centre is the nature reserve "Manternacher Fiels" which stretches along the Syre valley. Educational trails allow visitors to discover the region, where the ravine forest, a priority habitat of the Natura 2000 network, remains. The latter is unique at the national level, due to its size and natural state.

The Brewery History Museum is located on the second floor of the National Conservatory of Historic Vehicles (CNVH). Lovers of the good "Diekirchoise" will be able to learn about the history of the brewery here and discover barrels, glasses, bottles, packaging, advertising posters, illuminated signs and all sorts of accessories in its effigy on display in the showcase.

Located in the Kind pavilion, in the centre of the thermal park, the Luxembourg Aeronautical Museum was inaugurated in 2012. It is housed in a two-storey glass building and pays homage to Mondorf, which in April 1910 was the scene of the first flight in Luxembourg airspace. Parachuting, hot-air balloons, gliding... This museum, dedicated to both sports and commercial aviation, immerses us in the history of aeronautics and aviation in Luxembourg.

This craft micro-brewery was founded in 2001 and has belonged to the Simon Group since 2006. It is part of the Cornelyshaff restaurant and produces four beers: Wäissen Ourdaller (white), Wëllen Ourdaller, Karel (amber) and Hannah (hemp-flavored). They are made with malt, hops and, depending on the type of beer, various types of cereal. All using traditional processes. The micro-brewery is open to visitors on request.

The first mention of a lord of Berg dates back to 1311. Passing from the hands of King William II of the Netherlands, to the Grand Duke Adolphe and then to the Grand Duke William IV, the castle underwent important transformations until it was demolished and completely rebuilt. In 1934, the fortress became the property of the Luxembourg State. Following the Second World War, the castle will need an important restoration. It was not until 1964 that the castle became the main residence of the grand-ducal family after a long period of rehabilitation.

This natural park created in 2016 extends along the German border in the region Mullerthal-Petite Suisse Luxembourg. It occupies an area of 256 km ² and brings together the population of 12 communes, or 23 000 inhabitants. In addition to the Mullerthal Trail and the many other hikes to discover its beautiful forests, impressive sandstone rocks and deep ravines, many castles and remarkable sites are part of the landscape of this superb park. The Sûre and the Black Ernz are the two main rivers that pass it through. Echternach is the main city.

Situated in the heart of the city, this architectural ensemble brings together the former Cercle municipal de la ville (built between 1904 and 1909) and a more contemporary building (former Ciné-Cité), all connected by a glass walkway. Rich in numerous socio-cultural projects, the Cercle Cité offers free temporary exhibitions, concerts, conferences, round tables, readings and shows, as well as afterworks. Behind the glass window on the first floor is also the Aka restaurant with Japanese specialties and sushi (sushi train).

The Mediterranean Garden in Schwebsange is a privately owned garden, designed and maintained over the last 30 years by Charles Roovers and Dieter Lingen. The 15 ares of the garden currently contain some 1,000 different species and varieties. Emphasis is placed on Mediterranean species and other subtropical to tropical species that flourish magnificently in the wine-growing climate of the Moselle. Due to the diversity of plants, the garden offers an attractive range of flowering plants throughout the season.

Now owned by the Banque Caisse d'Epargne de l'Etat (BCEE), the former headquarters of Arbed (which became Arcelor and then ArcelorMittal) is an impressive historic building with four wings grouped around a beautiful, large inner courtyard. Built between 1920 and 1922 and once a symbol of Luxembourg's steel industry and economic power, this "castle" was renovated after being bought by BCEE in 2014 and was inaugurated in 2016. The building is now an administrative building but is worth a look from the outside.

Founded in 1308 by Henry VII, Count of Luxembourg, the church was dedicated in 1311 to Saint John the Baptist and the Virgin Mary. In 1606, the church, then hospitable, was associated with the new complex of the Abbey of Neumünster, under the influence of the Benedictine monks. The interior, although sober, houses rich Baroque furnishings: the pulpit, the organ, but also the monumental golden high altar and the sanctuary dedicated to the Black Virgin (to the left of the nave), whose statue was made in 1400.

Nestled on a hill overlooking the old town, this church is a beautiful jewel combining baroque and rococo, erected between 1761 and 1764, thanks to the will of the Benedictines of Echternach and according to the plans of Paul Mungenast. The interior is worth seeing for its remarkable Louis XV baroque furniture as well as the trompe l'oeil painting by Jean-Georges Weiser, a Bohemian native who was received bourgeois of the city of Luxembourg in 1740. Admire also the rocaille-style flesh, the organ, the carved balcony and the stained glass windows.

The exhibition is housed in the former Muerbelsmillen ("Mohrfels Mill") in Pfaffenthal and consists of several areas dealing with the themes of milling, food, crafts and water energy. The old mill technology and a large water wheel in the mill canal as well as the room where milling with gears and grinding wheels was once carried out are on display. Located on the Place de la Constitution, a stone's throw from the Casemates de Pétrusse, the Monument du Souvenir Gëlle Fra (meaning "golden woman" in French) was inaugurated in 1923 in memory of the Luxembourg soldiers who fell at the front during the First World War. This monument is a must in Luxembourg City and consists of a 21-meter high stone obelisk. At the top of the obelisk is a golden woman holding a laurel wreath towards two soldiers.

This memorial was erected on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the liberation of Luxembourg by the Allied armies. It contains the plaques of the American units that took part in the battle. Nearby, a 3 km-long memorial trail leads through the woods that were the object of intense fighting. The holes of the riflemen correspond to the locations of the bodies of the 160 German and American soldiers who were discovered there after the fighting that followed on December 30, 1944.

This magnificent feudal castle, built on a rocky sandstone promontory, overlooks the village from a height of around 50 metres. It offers a panoramic view over the Vallée des Sept Châteaux, where you'll discover exceptional flora and fauna in a peaceful setting. Dating back to the 12th^century , the residence was remodeled in the 16th^and 17th^centuries . It was then transformed into a luxury hotel and is now a charming B&B, Le Temps d'Or.

Nicknamed "the inkwell" because of its original octagonal shape, this tiny neo-Gothic chapel with its white walls is a true rarity. Built between 1849 and 1852, it is dedicated to Saint Cunégonde. The patron saint is represented in several forms: there is a statue above the portal and on the altar as well as a painting in the stained glass window. Since 1991, the building has been on the national inventory of listed monuments.

This room was used until 1972 as a locker room for the workers of the Lasauvage mines. The miners put their civilian clothes on a hook and pulled the chain under the ceiling, hence the name of the place. At the time, this installation was more practical than cupboards, since the clothes hung on the hook dried more quickly and the floors were easier to clean. The room still has some old lockers and period wash basins. The facility is sometimes used as an exhibition space during the Blues Express festival.

The Musée du Vin - Centre Mosellan houses a tourist information point, where you can find information and brochures about the region. There is also a RentaBike station, the regional bicycle rental service. Here you can rent mountain bikes, adult and children's bikes and electric bikes. A lock is provided free of charge, you have to bring your own helmet. You can then return your bike to any other RentaBike station.

Located opposite the Rural Museum, in the A Mëchels house, the Museum of Ancient Metallurgy reveals certain aspects of the ancient metallurgy of Luxembourg. The permanent exhibition thus shows taques, anvils, pans, hammers, axes and metal objects, as well as the first cast iron heating plates, resulting from the appearance of the new blast furnaces in the 15th century. The place is documented with numerous illustrations.

The Differdange Regional Cultural Centre, located in the beautifully renovated old town hall, opened its doors in January 2014. It includes an auditorium (its centrepiece!), the municipal library, the music school, the cultural service and the brasserie-restaurant Chez Amado. The centre can not only host cultural activities (concerts, theatre, exhibitions), but also act as a small congress centre.

This path, dedicated to the network of the same name, leads through the rich nature surrounding Esch-sur-Alzette, from Ellergronn to the heights of the Gaalgebierg via the Burgronn. The main starting point is the Ellergronn Nature and Forest Centre. The trail is divided into three loops, which follow each other for a total of 12 km. Along the way, there are information boards to help you learn more about the mining landscape and nature conservation projects.

Erected in 1855 in memory of the Gallo-Roman site of Dalheim, this monument is almost six metres high. It was destroyed during the Second World War in 1940 by the Germans before being rebuilt in 1957. On each of its sides are various inscriptions in several languages (French, German and Latin). The eagle, a highly symbolic animal linked to the conquest of power, is placed on a globe and has its gaze turned towards the city of Trier (Germany), while its body is oriented towards Metz (France).

Formerly located in the heart of Clervaux, in the basement of a hotel, the Toy Museum has moved and is now housed in the former barn on the Robbesscheier site. This private collection of 10,000 pieces allows visitors to rediscover the world of his childhood but also that of his parents and grandparents. There are miniature railroads and car circuits, dolls, lead soldiers, rocking horses, doll's houses, and many other beautiful surprises. A magical world to discover with the family.

In the Miecher forest, several ruins of a Gallo-Roman farm have been uncovered and are being beautifully restored. Built in the 1st century AD, the estate extended over no less than 5 hectares and was bounded by a rampart. At least seven stone buildings were present on the site. It was probably occupied until the end of the 4th century. Numerous signs give indications about the site and life at the time.

Covering 11.2 hectares on the right bank of the river Sûre, the Nature Discovery Park In Bedingen is an extension of the municipal park of Diekirch. It is equipped with various interactive stations that guide visitors through the flora and fauna of the area. On the way, you meet Scottish cattle and donkeys, the city's mascot. Although they are in pens, they are easily approached by children, who will be delighted to pet them.

In 1630, Godefroy d'Eltz et de Clervaux and his wife Dorothée de Raville donated the Chapel of the Three Virgins to the Franciscans so that they could welcome the numerous pilgrims. The religious set about building a convent. Ten years later, they began to build the church which was completed in 1658. The bell tower dates from 1924. The interior impresses by the richness of its baroque decoration. The cult of the Three Virgins, daughters of St. Sophie who died for their faith around 130, certainly replaced the veneration of three pagan deities.

Built in the 9th and 13th centuries, there are still very beautiful ruins of Brandenburg Castle (name of its first known owner, Godfrey of Brandenburg - 1244-1284). After extensive archaeological excavations, some dangerous parts were consolidated and a secure route was built. The wooden route with explanatory panels starts at the tunnel that connects the main castle with the farmyard of the original castle keep. The path makes a detour through the spacious chapel of the original castle and also allows you to admire the beautiful cellars.

On November 9, 1989, the Berlin Wall collapsed with a hammer and circular saw. This was a historic event that made it possible to implement the Schengen Agreement. Nearly 30 years later, only relics of it remain in the German capital and in various parts of Europe. Since 8 February 2010, a 3.60m high section of the Berlin Wall, which was located near the Sony Center at the time, has been erected on the banks of the Moselle River in Schengen, right in front of the European Centre. It embodies the opening and disappearance of European borders

The Columns of Nations, located opposite the European Centre, are the work of architect François Valentiny (who also designed the building of the European Schengen Centre). The first column was erected in 2010 and the other two in 2014. They are almost 9 metres high and bear bronze stars symbolising the countries of the Schengen area. The spaces left free are intended to receive the stars of the countries that will join the European area in the future. On the ground are sealed bronze plaques with the names of the signatory states.

The sculpture E Schlass fir Schengen is a steel portal decorated with twenty-six stars, where visitors can hang padlocks as a sign of belonging to the same community. Each member country of the Schengen Agreement has its own bar. Suitable padlocks are available from the tourist information office for 7.50 euros and can be engraved. However, your own padlock is also welcome.

A haven of greenery just a stone's throw from the city, the Mansfeld Park gardens were inaugurated in 2017, on the 500th anniversary of Count Pierre-Ernest de Mansfeld, former governor of the Duchy. They are home to historical remnants of the Château La Fontaine: the Neptune basin, the artificial grotto and the St. Peter and Venus fountains. With its splendid view over the city, it has become a meeting place where Luxembourgers like to stroll and picnic. During the summer season, open-air concerts are regularly organized here.

The Asile pour Animaux Régional in Dudelange, Luxembourg, is an association dedicated to the protection of animals. Located in the center of Parc Lé'h, the shelter welcomes dogs and cats looking for a home. However, it is important to note that visits to the shelter are by appointment only. The shelter also offers lost and found pet search services.

The Burfelt Forest Discovery Centre is located on a peninsula in an imposing complex of 18th century buildings. The centre offers an educational nature trail, a permanent exhibition on oak coppice management, thematic exhibitions and educational activities for schoolchildren. Note that the solar boat excursions on the lake, Solarboot Um Sei, stop at its nautical base.

The reception centre is located on the edge of the Ellergronn nature reserve. Generous nature and rare habitats have taken precedence over this former industrial zone. Located in the buildings of the old Cockerill mine, the visitor centre is the starting point for several discovery trails. Throughout the year, the centre offers activities to discover the natural wealth of the region. A café-restaurant, An der Schmëdd, is located on the ground floor of the building.

The educational paths of the nature and the exhibitions at the Discovery Centres of the Forest reveal the natural spectacle of the forest. The objectives of the centres are to arouse the interest in the forest and to raise awareness in favour of the protection of nature. Guided naturalist tours and practical work on environmental education are organized and realized with visitors. The offer is aimed mainly at children and young people, but also on groups of adults who want to explore the forest with all their senses.

With an area of 18 387 hectares (about 250 km ²), this park, established in 1999, comprises 7 communes (Boulaide, Ell, Esch-sur-Safe, Heiderscheid, Lake of Haute-safe, Neunhausen and Weinseler). The resident population is approximately 5 500 inhabitants.

The lake of Haute-Safe and its facilities are the main point of the park. This artificial lake, 380 hectares and 27 km in length, was created in 1961 by the construction of a dam that allows the supply of two thirds of the country to drinking water. The bottom of the main restraint, upstream of the Misery Bridge, is a wild fauna, elsewhere threatened with extinction, such as the otter, the wild cat or the grouse. The lake trail (42 km) allows walkers to admire the beauty of the region and there is the possibility to practise a good number of water sports. The park is the starting point for many thematic circuits with distances ranging from 600 m to 8 km and rides.
