One of the best addresses in town. A good family restaurant that is dedicated to welcoming its customers at lunch and dinner, facing the sea. Excellent Cretan cuisine cooked over an olive wood fire, in an elegantly renovated setting. Different dishes of the day, usually organically grown. Small family restaurant, very well situated high up to admire the splendid view of the port. Among the large choice of dishes, we enjoyed the kleftiko (oven-baked lamb with cheese and vegetables). Good classic Cretan cuisine (tarama, garlic bread, saganaki shrimps, grilled sea bream, lamb in sauce...), with a welcome like the Cretans know how to make. The staff is smiling. The traditional glass of raki and the small plate of pastries are always offered with joy at the end of the meal. There are a lot of regulars, it's relaxed.

Stelios installs his little colourful caravan every year on Eristos beach. A small Zen paradise, we settle around the hammock tree and spend the day reading and swimming, between two strikes, a good omelette for breakfast and simple but successful snacks (including some very good hamburgers). In the evening, the place comes alive with all the beach campers who come for a drink: beers and cocktails are shared, often around a moment of music with their feet in the sand and Stelios takes care of everyone.

This tavern is well located, a little out of town, a few meters from the sea, on the peninsula to the east. You can't miss it: a small caique is in front of the entrance of the establishment! It serves traditional Greek and Cretan cuisine and fresh fish (depending on the arrival). The dishes are prepared on a daily basis. Among the specialties: kleftiko (lamb with vegetables and cheese in the oven), octopus with wine, cheese fritters, grilled lobster, sardines... The arrival of Michelin-starred chef Lefteris Lazarou - formerly of the prestigious Varoulko in Piraeus - has not gone unnoticed. Here, tables sprawl across the picturesque harbor, laden with fish specialties. Among her creations are marvellous garlic shrimps with wine sauce, cherry tomatoes and olive oil. We also love his wild artichoke fillets or soups, depending on the season. This chic, luxurious restaurant offers top-notch Mediterranean and Greek cuisine, admittedly more expensive than the average in Lindos (itself inflated in the village's restaurants due to the influx of tourists), but well worth it for the quality of the dishes and ingredients on offer. You'll appreciate the sober decor, which gives way to the traditional architecture of the whole place: the pebble mosaic floors are magnificent, as are the views over the rooftops. Reservations are essential if you want a table after 6pm.

At the port, on the waterfront in the old town, this tavern was created in 1936 by the Frangiadaki family. It is run by Nikos, a French-speaking man, who prepares, with organic products from his farm, traditional cuisine at reasonable prices. Other specialties are stuffed zucchini flowers, snails in rosemary tomato sauce, good quality grilled octopus, cuttlefish in wine, keftés, or swordfish. The speciality of the place is twofold: on the one hand, traditional grilled meats, with delicious spit-roasted meats in particular; and on the other, a modern option with... sushi! Away from the noise of the square, in the main street of Sparta, this small unpretentious restaurant offers a tasty cuisine as well as a small indoor garden in a quiet area. Pork cooked with fresh vegetables (green beans, eggplants) is excellent such as baked pork with potatoes, lamb in lemon and fresh oregano sauce, steamed meatballs and local chicken with cheese and onion. The lamb chops are also very good! The welcome is charming and the prices moderate.

On the beach of Périvolos near Perissa, this fish and seafood restaurant is a nice surprise. But it cannot be reduced to seafood, moussaka, for example, is delicious. We appreciate the pretty platform with the bar and the swimming pool on the beach, an ideal setting for resting outside the hustle and bustle of Fira. In addition, Edmond the French-speaking boss offers sun loungers to all French people! A good listener...

A good sign here: the majority of the customers are Greek and the restaurant does not need to open in the evening. A few tables shaded by two large plane trees await visitors without a reel. Here, the daily specials (soutsoukakia, gemista and other moussakas) leave very, very quickly. We probably tasted one of the best pasticios on the island. Whose recipe is it? Mystery... We can guess that the establishment, which opened in the last century, has seen a few generations of people come and go. Really an excellent value for money.

If you push your waterfront walk a little further north, passing Romaikos, you will arrive in this relaxed family tavern, and especially the tables laid on the sand. Leaving the centre of Myrina, we go back in time a little bit with customs as we like them. Here, you can choose your daily specials from your mother's kitchen across the street (salads, meatballs, delicious vine leaves...). Open all day long, the place is also ideal for a drink or coffee between two dives.

Refined cuisine and breathtaking views... You can have lunch or dinner there, and enjoy the beach at its feet. Like the sophisticated hotel it depends on, this restaurant with gastronomic impulses is also one of the best on the island with notably very good fresh fish to choose from in the kitchen. In this small typical Greek tavern, you will taste a good traditional cuisine, sitting under a charming mulberry tree. In a small courtyard of Kalamata, this tavern is one of the more appraisals of the buildings. Grandmother's style dishes (pork neck with mashed pork and cooking juices) and Anatolian recipes: a long, super strong green pepper to accompany fresh cheeses, cumin falafels, etc. All this can be enjoyed while sipping tsipouro under a pleasant arbour (heated terrace in winter). You can end with a coffee on the panoramic roof of the Little Big House hostel (100 m above) or at the other good tavern, Stassi, on the square below.

In Tsinari (from the Turkish çinar, "plane tree") there are three of the most pleasant restaurants in the city: Tsinari (the oldest tavern, dating from 1905), Pritanio and the Rediviva cooperative. A very good kitchen, a very good address which is worth the detour.

A 15 minute drive from Marmari, this tavern lost in the land is worth a visit. Direction Paradisi for a stop in a family tavern. Far from the coast, there is little or no fish (a few gavros) and mostly meat dishes, some of which are produced here. Beef, pork and even wild boar on certain days. We especially appreciate the place at noon, for its terrace, and the possibilities of stroll which it offers around. Also on the menu, an excellent homemade pita that we recommend you finish at the hotel or the next day.

Situated on the plateia, a small square with a big old plane tree in the middle, this restaurant offers traditional dishes and excellent mezzés which, in assortment, will make a good meal. On the main square of the village, this cute address offers a revisited and slightly modernised Greek cuisine. You will eat all the traditional dishes of the region, but with a touch of originality. For example, pasta with dry ink, for example, which is not so often found on the Greek islands. Very pleasant, well in the shade.

An elegant and intimate restaurant near the central pedestrian street of Patras. The dishes are refined and you can feel the Italian influence of Patras during the tasting: small steaks with baked potatoes and yoghurt cream, risotto with courgettes and gorgonzola, mushrooms cooked in the oven with goat cheese and wild pork sausages... The wine cellar is also well furnished. Pleasant atmosphere. We chose meat and scallops and both dishes were excellent.

Without this bistro, Kolonaki would not be this chic neighborhood in the center of the Greek capital. Le Rosé has just opened its doors at the intersection of a small pedestrian street and the very quiet Kapsali street and is already one of the must-see places in Athens. Located just a few steps from the Palais de Galère complex, this restaurant takes its name from its specialty: (pommes) frites! But not just any fries. The chef of a well-known fish restaurant has opened his own restaurant dedicated to street food. And street food doesn't mean fast food. Here, every dish is meticulously prepared and laid out: the fries are cooked in three stages, and topped with cheese, herbs and other toppings. The burgers are also excellent.
