THE SIERRA DE BERNIA
Read moreThe Sierra de Bèrnia follows the coast perpendicular to Callosa from En to Sarrià and to Pointe de Toix. In its upper part, it is a sharp limestone ridge that reaches 1 129 metres above sea level. And it's south of the summit that you find the ruins of the Fort of Bèrnia, built by Philip II to contain the rebellions of the moriscos populations, converted Muslims, who then populated these mountains. The PR-V 7 route is recommended as a small hiking trail for an overview of this space classified as a protected landscape. He leaves Boxes of Bèrnia, in Xaló, follows the north slope to the forat, Trou hole, a surprising natural tunnel that crosses the ridge, to return to the south slope, passing through the Fort. This excursion offers privileged panoramic views over the bay of Altea.

NATURAL PARK KARST IN SORBAS YESOS
Read moreLocated in the easternmost part of the Tabernas-Sorbas corridor, which is the driest area in Europe, this 2,375-hectare park contains one of the most impressive beauties of Andalusia: a subterranean world of more than 1,000 cavities, created in rock and plaster by thousands of years of rainfall. The story began more than 6 million years ago when the Mediterranean Sea was still invading the Sorbas basin. As it gradually became shallower, it was subjected to a strong evaporation process that eventually gave rise to an enormous mass of gypsum over 100 metres thick. Once the sea had completely receded, it was the slow action of the rain that shaped the sediments and plaster that remained on the surface into an unusually beautiful quartz landscape. Today, a system of underground galleries of almost 8,500 metres in length remains. Most of these galleries meet, giving rise to a spectacular landscape of crystalline forms: stalagmites, stalactites, columns and corals, of great scientific, geological and didactic interest. On the surface, this arid steppe is home to endemic plants such as the Sorbas narcissus, or emblematic species of the southeast of the peninsula such as the mora turtle. The rocky cliffs serve as a refuge for royal owls and, in the holes, foxes, badgers and weasels can be found.

EL ANGLIRU
Read moreThe rise of this mythical stage of the Vuelta, which saw the triumph of French Kenny Elissonde in 2013, is a journey of 12,5 km (average slope of 10,13%) that can be done by car, on foot (why not), but also by bike, for the most courageous. If it is better to avoid winter due to snow, it will always be necessary to pay attention to sudden and ponctuelles arrivals. Throughout the ascent, signs indicate the name of the passage and its length, altitude, scale, and remaining distance to the crown. The first half of the journey, the most gentle, leads to the recreational Area of Viapará which offers tables, parking and nice views of the Riosa, the Monsacro and the Sierra del Aramo. It is after the beginning of the serious ascent (1 570 m altitude) with a slope of 21,5% at the Cuesta les Cabanes. At 900 m altitude, we have a panoramic view of the surrounding area, cows and horses. And at kilometre 10,3, this is the beginning of so-called "hell", with a slope of 23%. Upon arrival, the reward: a beautiful view of Pico Gamonal (1 712 m) in the north and on Moncuevu (1 718 m) in the south. An explanatory table completes your information.
