A natural area rich in fauna and flora, a good address for hiking enthusiasts in Torrevieja.

It is a protected natural area of 3,700 hectares. Characterized by two salt water lagoons: the one of Torrevieja and La Mata. The first, pink color houses the exploitation of the Torrevieja salts and the second, green color, houses the interpretation center of this natural park. These two wetlands are an important breeding and wintering area for over one hundred species of birds such as the pink flame, black-collar grebe or various duck species. The site is also characterized by great botanical diversity with shrub or tree vegetation typical of brackish terrain such as salicore, tamaris or daffodils. North of the Lagoon of La Mata, at the mouth of the Segura, the dunes of Guardamar have been set by pine plantations and other trees to prevent their progression from swallowing the agglomeration.

There are many paths to hiking, the old railway route, via Verde, connecting the natural park to the city. It is free access, but it is advisable to visit its interpretation center.
