PARC NATUREL DE CADI-MOIXERO
A vast natural area made up of two imposing mountain ranges, the Cadí Mountain Range and the Moixeró Mountain Range.
With over 41,000 hectares of land, it's a vast natural area. It spans the provinces of Lleida, Girona and Barcelona. It is made up of two imposing mountain ranges, the Serra de Cadí and the Serra de Moixeró, which meet at the Tancalaporta pass (2,357 m above sea level), stretching along a line parallel to the Pyrenean peaks. Altitudes range from 900 m in the valleys to 2,648 m at its highest peak, El Vulturó. Its vegetation is dominated by Scots and hooked pines, but firs, oaks, beeches and poplars can also be found, making it an ideal refuge for a wide variety of high-mountain fauna: marmots, Tengmalm's owls, golden eagles, martens, but also and above all the isard, the mountain goat endemic to the Pyrenees. It's also a special protection area for birds such as the scops owl, capercaillie, tawny owl, kestrel and ring ouzel. This nature park is part of the Natura 2000 network of alpine regions. The climate is a blend of continental Mediterranean and mountain climates, with cold winters and cool summers. Needless to say, this natural ensemble is an adventure playground for all kinds of outdoor activities, from hiking and biking to winter sports, mountaineering and much more.
