At first, Marion Aoustet and Benoit Combes created a wine candy, then the desire to make their own sweets was born. Their workshop opens onto the gourmet store. Depending on the day and time of your visit, you can watch the artisanal production process, a magical moment in the transformation of sugar. The gourmet palette ranges from marshmallows and teddy bears to their famous crystals, lollipops, candy canes, caramelized pecans and orchard sweets. Their specialty: crystals, a baked sugar stretched, flaky and tangy. Yummy!

Lovers of sweets, do not miss this visit and especially the tasting. The story of its creation is fascinating: Edith, a seamstress, and Michel Noyez, a cook, created in the 70's, the Noisettine du Médoc in a 200 year old cellar, at the time in ruins, which they fell in love with. Everyone falls in love with this delicacy whose recipe dates back to 1649. The hazelnut is cooked in a homemade syrup then coated with a caramel puff. Today, this family factory has become a small museum that welcomes nearly 40,000 visitors per year.

LES RIGOLETTES NANTAISES

Confectionery
4.3/5
3 reviews

Inspired by the opera Rigoletto, the Nantes confectioner Charles Bohu had named his cat Rigolette in homage to the jester. The feline gave its name to the sweets invented in 1902, composed of a thin sugar shell steamed filled with fruit pulp and then frosted. The 5 original flavors are still there (lemon, tangerine, raspberry, blackcurrant and pineapple), completed by those with flowers (poppy, violet, rose, hibiscus), seasonal fruits (fig, grape), or salted butter caramel or praline. There is also a range of regional sweets, such as Berlingots, Ducs de Bretagne or Pavés nantais. Nice too this P'tit Rigolo with melting chocolate and salted butter caramel!

Jean-Yves Matifas, craftsman-confiseur, has been perpetuating the family know-how since 1922. Here, everything is made by hand. The berlingots are made in front of your eyes and the spinning is undoubtedly the most spectacular operation. The thickened sugar block is hung on a hook and is spun before being transformed into exquisite coloured and perfumed apple, melon, violet sweets... Pleasure for the eyes, but also for the palate, with the sugar in all its states (candy, vergeoise, coloured...) and all its forms (lollipops, berlingots, marshmallows...).
