THE SHORES OF THE WEANING
Read moreVertou can be the starting point for a bucolic walk. The path towards Nantes is becoming increasingly urbanized as walking, so perhaps you prefer to leave in the direction of Monnières. Along the Sèvre, you will fall on a few hamlets and navigation docks that recall the commercial past of the stream. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, in particular, the Sèvre was widely used to transport the wines and spirits of Loire to Nantes. From there, drums were exported to Orléans, Holland and Northern Europe. In the opposite direction, wood, cereals or lime went up to the nantes vineyard. The arrival of the railway in the middle of the nineteenth century gradually signaled the end of the commercial vocation of the Sèvre.

A relaxing moment, a romantic walk, a botanical excursion, a family trip or a sports course can be programmed there. This site is frequented by many athletes, climbing and hiking (a GR travels the slopes). Four exceptional plant species for Upper Normandy have been listed: the common fig fig, the wax, the lark and the mountain stool. Many species of animals are also present there.

BOXWOOD CHAPEL GAZEBO
Read moreJust a few kilometres from Besançon, this exceptional view of the Franc Chapel is located in the hamlet of the Buis Chapel, on horseback on Fontain, Morre and Boucle. This lookout on the crest of St. Stephen Hill is approximately 500 metres high. So the Bisontins come there on the big summer heats to find a fresh breeze. After a little tour in the hamlet, you can quietly visit our Buis Lady Chapel before pushing to the lookout. Next, we will stop at Notre-Dame de la Libération, a small church built in a former fort in the aftermath of the Second World War in memory of the Bisontins and Bisontines victims of the conflict. A statue of more than 7 metres overlooks the panorama and the small church. Between contemplation, historic walk and point of view, the pretexts for making this walk are numerous.

THE THROATS OF THE MADMAN
Read moreThe narrowest gorges in the world, with passages less than 80 cm wide, frightened the population, who were convinced that they were inhabited by the bruixes (evil witches). The legends merge with the history, that of the Trabucayres, the highwaymen who raged in the region around 1840. This canyon of 1,700 m long and 200 m deep is so narrow in some places that the daylight does not reach the bottom, it is where the Simiots live, those hideous beings straight out of children's stories.

Read moreMineral water of absolute purity gushes out in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park in Wattwiller. Nitrate-free and low in sodium, its therapeutic virtues have been known since ancient times. In 1993, its little taste was invited to all the tables of the region! Although the water is bottled, the inhabitants of the commune can get their supplies from the restored fountain at the bottom of the village. Do not hesitate to quench your thirst if you are passing through, it is worth a detour!
CLUSE AND WATERFALLS OF THE FLUMEN
Read moreFrom Saint-Claude, take the direction of Geneva, Septmoncel, and then Du municipal camping. In the hamlet Le Martinet you can park on the small square of the village or follow the sign on the left towards the Gorges gorges and park a few hundred meters further, on a small, improvised parking. There are various marked trails (from easy to very, very sporty). You can opt for the Tour de la Gorges, the Cascades Promenade, the White Rock Belvedere or the Chapeau de chapeau de De. Count from a. m. to a. m. on the route chosen. The Flumen is a tributary of Parr and the waterfalls are outbreaks. They plunge into a preserved circus, classified as a natural heritage of national interest. They are accessible through a unique path: Make good shoes and count 1 hours round round. In summer, in warm weather or summer, the site is fresh and pleasant, as bordered by the forest. Practicable in any season, however, we advise you to carry out Cascades walk after rain or in winter when it freezes. It is simply splendid.

WATER COURSE
Read moreThe city's waterways are one of the city's charms. The Nau complements the Petit Jard and the Market Castle, which is taking place in its waters. It then hides under Lochet Street to re-emerge the arts wharf, then conflue with the Mau, opposite the courthouse. The Mau, he enters the city by the Mauvillain Bridge, known for his arch in shell. It cools the gardens of the prefecture and reflects the wooden areas and the beautiful châlonnaises stones to the bridge of Putte-Savatte (rue Croix-des-Dyers). Then the watercourse disappears under the market square and comes back to the great day next to Notre-Dame-en-Vaux and recovers a little further the waters of the Nau. It was at this confluence that the port of the city was installed in 1377. The river continues towards St. Antoine Bridge or Submarine bridge to find the waters of the St. Martin Canal. The canal connecting Louis-XII to the Canal Saint-Martin and crossing the city leaves a tranquil meander in Jard, where fishermen settle. The lock becomes a show when a barge passes. Walks to make, bridges to cross…

In the past, it contained gardens of ownership of the property, traces that are still seen during the walk.
THE NARCES
Read moreBelow Chaudeyrolles, there is a marsh covered with a giant cauldron called "the Narces". In south Velay, narce means wetland, swamp. Instead, the term. is used. Until the end of the Second World War, the inhabitants of Chaudeyrolles had accustomed themselves in the early summer to pick up peat, a mixture of rotten wood, plants and land. This peat was shaped into small bricks that were drying in the sun so that they lost their water. In winter, these small, light and porous peat bricks used fuel to fuel furnaces (as in Ireland). Chaudeyrolles was probably the only commune in the department to use peat as a means of heating. The peat bog is now reduced due to the exploitation of peat and drainage to allow grazing.
LAKE ST. FRONT
Read more2 km from the village, an altitude lake (1 236 m) formed in the volcano explosion crater (maar). This 30 ha lake is fed by underground sources and small streams. The study of its depths (7 metres of water covering almost 130 000 metres of vase) has allowed scientists to assess the climates and landscapes of the Mezenc massif of yesteryear, dating back nearly years! It is populated by various fish varieties: . carp and trout. It's private property, you don't have access to it, but a pleasant trail makes it a big tour.

THE FERN FOREST
Read moreThe famous forest of Fougères is a place of walk not to be missed. Composed mainly of oaks and beeches, the forest, which still contains some megalithic remains such as the cordon of druids or the curled stone (a dolmen with a gallery), was once the landmark of the Chouans during the Revolution. Discover the 12th century Landéan cellar, which is a vaulted underground room supported by eleven arches. Legend has it that the two staircases leading to it would connect the cellars to the castle of Fougères. This forest now covers 1,500 hectares and is made up of the woods of La Motte, Rumignon and even the forest of Villecartier. On site, you can take a healthy route, hiking trails such as those of the Old Castles, the Long Christmas, the Roman Way, the Pierre Enfouie or the Pierre Courcoulée, not to mention the mountain bike trails. To experience a great adventure with friends or family, participate in a geocaching session. This is a virtual treasure hunt where you have to discover clues via an application to install on your smartphone. In the heart of the forest, there is also an activity and leisure centre called Le Chênedet, which has existed since 1978. It offers a variety of activities and playgrounds for children. A little something extra in summer: a supervised swimming area will delight holidaymakers. For more information on hiking trails and geocaching, do not hesitate to contact the Fougères tourist office.
