The most beautiful natural sites to discover France

These 30 ha marshes, classified as Natura 2000, provide a refuge for fauna and flora that visitors can see perched at an altitude of 470 m. This wet and peaty area is home to a very rich specific biodiversity. The Konik-Polsky horse was introduced to the site to contain the vegetation.

With horse on Île-de-France and Picardy, this park relates to 59 towns of Oise and the Val-d'Oise, adding up nearly 600 km2 and gathering 110,000 inhabitants. Among the remarkable sites which are included there, let us quote the abbeys of Royaumont, of Chaalis and Montcel, the estates of Chantilly and Ermenonville, the remarkable town of Senlis. The park, lung green of the north of Paris, was to be identified at the origin under the name of "regional nature park of the Three Forests", including forest spaces of Halatte, Chantilly and Ermenonville, but this suggestion was isolated, fault of federating a unanimous image in terms of communication.

The walking tour - a half-hour walk - begins in the roundabout of Vieux-Murten after crossing the village towards the pond of Murten. The last beautiful specimens spread over 13 hectares are kept by the NFB and classified as a Biological Reserve.

Surrounded by the Forez Mountains, the Vivarais Mountains, the Massifs, Pilat and Devès Mountains, this forest of nearly 1 200 hectares extends to the territory of five municipalities: Saint-Julien-Chapteuil, Champclause, Queyrières, Araules and Yssingeaux. The Meygal massif impresses with its dense and wide coat of thorns. The forest is composed mostly of conifers, a veritable botanical garden where many varieties of plants blend: digitale, achillea, pectic, gentian… You will also find the famous ceps and other chanterelles. Its planting, on a lande lande, dates back to the late th century. The GR 65 (chemin de Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle), in its part which goes from Geneva to Puy-en-Velay, crosses this forest. Winter skiing enthusiasts will find their own happiness here.

A road, connected, connects this vast natural promontory to the villages of Bordeyrac and Espinasse. At more than 1 000 m altitude, the camp of Antoune is at the top of a basaltic casting that dominates the gorges of the Loire. At the entrance to the site, an explanatory panel, with plan, provides indications on this platform that was fortified, probably in the Celtic era. In the periphery of this hectare plateau, you will notice remains of some small watchtower. Interestingly, the places have a magnetism that going the compass needle and the radiesthésie antennae. This site is now protected and registered by the association Les Amis d'Antoune.

Words may sometimes be misleading. This lake, as you will have understood, is not really one. It is a bog nestled between two volcanoes. But is that why the point is not worth a detour? The orientation table interprets the wide panorama of the Cantal Mountains, Margeride and Aubrac. Free spot for climbing blocks, the site is located on a hiking circuit, starting from Saint-Just, passing through another local curiosity: the fountain of eyes. The chaos is offered to the walkway only if it leaves the large sandy road and walk in the pine forest over a hundred meters.

This 8 km course along the Lecourbe is accessible to hikers, cyclists and people with reduced mobility. Located in natural surroundings, the trail takes a practicable route with strollers and can be carried out in any sense. The Lecourbe Park and the Beautour Dock can, for example, be a starting point. A great opportunity to discover the "Folies", dating from the th century and th century, as well as the many boats now restored and converted into workshops and exhibition spaces. Many hiking connections with neighboring municipalities invite the discovery of the country of Herbauges: vineyards, lanterns, ponds and lake Grand Place. Five walking circuits are possible from the commune: The Landes (7 km), Mévellière/Bocage (7 km, the name of a castle of the eighteenth century located on a 55 ha estate), Les Moulins (12 km), Les Vignes (12 km) and the Tour du lac (74 km). 10,6 km (8,9 km with shortcut). This circuit offers its way to the Convent, its Clos de la Fontaine rose, the former mill of La and the Château-Chabot Castle, built in the th century. This state forest extends integrally on a nearly 9,000 ha, and it is the largest wooded area in Côte d'Or. Part of this hardwood forest will become National Park, just like the one of Vanoise or Cevennes. These woods have a rich and diverse animal population and rare flowers, such as the Lady's slipper or Ligularia sibirica, highly appreciated for their beauty. Walkers have 21 marked circuits on the Châtillonnais, with very different landscapes from one circuit to the other: Cirque de la Coquille, caves, monuments, vineyards, castles, abbeys… Hunting with hounds is possible from September 15th to March 31st. This salty expanse, surrounded by hills, was exploited from 1856 to 1945 as a salt marsh. Today, this beautiful pond fed by rainwater and runoff is reserved for migratory birds. During your walk, you will surely have the pleasure to contemplate some wading birds in full nap or meal. You will also contemplate the original colours of the Doul, a characteristic linked to the fact that the pond is the deepest (about 3 metres) and the saltiest (70 grams of salt per litre) of the Narbonnaise.

These two forests are part of the Regional Natural Park of the Seine Boucles and are crossed by numerous equestrian trails, cycle paths and walking paths. All are accessible to families. The more experienced hikers can start the GR 2, which goes from St Pierre-de-Manneville to Le Havre and crosses these forests along the way. This multi-kilometer trail allows you to enjoy majestic beech and remarkable trees, taking advantage of picturesque villages such as Saint-Wandrille, Caudebec-en-Caux and Jumièges. In the shadow of the pine trees and sessile oak trees, the walkers discover the forest of the Trait-Maulévrier, which covers 3,000 hectares. Located on the right bank of the river, the diversity of its landforms makes it a forest highly appreciated by walkers. Left bank is the Broton forest, less rugged than its neighbor, which awaits you with its 6,700 hectares.

From the mouth of the harbour to that of Barneville-Carteret extends a splendid site of dunes and beaches. Often battered by the wind, the landscape is magnificent: the infinite variations of light and ever-changing hues will delight the photographer's eye. If you are in the area, don't miss to walk around - or rather to get lost in it - so vast and exotic is the place. Classified as a sensitive natural space by the departmental council, the site is made up of several environments where a rich and diversified fauna and flora flourish.

This state forest will offer you many outdoor activities: a mountain bike trail, a loop in loop (3:30 a. m.), an arboretum, the Old Oak site and a landscaped picnic area. The GR 37 also passes through it. Notice to hikers! Horse riding enthusiasts will appreciate the important network of equestrian circulations: they join in multiple crosses.

We reach the locks through the marshes. Fishermen love this place. Along the Button over 4 km, by the slipway, you can also reach the locks of Saint-Jean-d'Angély.
