For lunch at the Bistro des Halles it is best to book. This small facility is still bursting at midday. The Saint-Amandois press the lunch break for the dish of the day or formulas at the soft price. In spite of its name the Bistro des Halles is first and foremost a restaurant where you can eat traditional cuisine, without a well-executed and rich chichi. Whether you have room in your stomach or not, it will be difficult to avoid the succulent desserts. Special mention on the lunch menu, clever and excellent value for money. Behind the term a singular strand is a small restaurant with rustic but nice decoration. Its authentic and unbeatable cuisine is the prayer of the Savoyard potato patches: The cloth. Ideally located at the bottom of Vallorcine's slopes, just on the train station of the train station, the Bougnette stop is a gourmand stop for appetites with a well-started ski day. A la carte, duck foie gras beggar and shredded pork shank, artichoke mousseline and Montbrison sheath, roasted monkfish grenadine, Sichuan pepper and basil cream, or beef filet steak on Roquefort cream and foie gras croustade. Fresh, delicious and well presented dishes. The desserts are also of high value: raspberry and its crispy almonds, delicacies from La Loco.... Beautiful terrace with white speckled granite floor, decorated with screens, plantations (laurel sauce, bamboo), blinds and parasols. An address not to be missed.

Here, we plunge into a retro and warm atmosphere, where the antique furniture rubs shoulders with the engravings of a film artist, along the soft red benches. Here, the menu changes four times a year: so you can't get tired of it. Finally, by the glass or in a bottle, the wine list is an honour at home. We will therefore taste a pressed leek with foie gras, an Auvergne tartare or a veal blanquette from the bistro. And these are just examples! For dessert, classic, but good, cream brûlée with profiteroles.

The first room serves as a pub-pub and in the second, larger, we can drink a tea but also lunch or dinner. A terrace is located on the sidewalk to enjoy the lively street. You will find a good choice of pizzas and salads, but also a more traditional cuisine of the brasserie type: Intern, lamb mouse, pasta, omelet… To note, the excellent chocolate base and its vanilla cream bed! Fast, fast formulas are very interesting.

At the foot of the southern steeple of the cathedral, Café Winds welcomes you on one of its sunny terraces, often spoiled, or sheltered from squalls, in a building dating back to the 1900 th century, whose warm interior is beautifully decorated in a style. In windows and on the throne shelves a remarkable collection of teapots and coffee makers, which gives the institution a certain stamp. In short, it's good to spend a moment in the Winds, whether it's just for coffee or for eating, especially as the service is uninterrupted from 11 am to 23 pm. And kitchen side, if the addition may seem a little salty, the starters, dishes and desserts are very good, and rather well presented. For some time now, Café Winds has also offered an expansion on the Rue des Changes, a space dedicated to the sale of sandwiches, drinks, ice creams and cakes to take or to taste on site.

The least we can write is that if this restaurant is not still unanimously appreciated, it has rectified its situation since our last not very rave reviews. Setting did not change and steps from Musée d'Art Moderne, the room is modern in white and red tone to highlight fluid forms, including this staircase leading to the mezzanine. The terrace overlooking the amphitheatre, sheltered by large parasols, offers a pleasant refuge. The point of improvement is both services, more responsive and friendly at the time of our visit, and the cuisine that will never be that of Mathieu Viannay, Christophe Marguin or Frédéric Berthod, three chefs combined in the business, but a good cuisine in a brasserie way with some gourmet refinement as extra. On an well-stuffed menu, a Marmande tomato tartare served with a half ball of real di bufalo mozzarella, pesto and condiments, a whole grilled fish according to the arrival, lobster salad, risotto worthy of this name or a roast veal sweetbreads in casserole, before enjoying the famous creamy chocolate fondant. Fine wine list for an address that move on top in our selection list.
