Welcome to Black Bird Coffee, one of the city's best coffee shops (our favorite). The decor is cosy and modern, with big leather armchairs, shelves of books and pretty hanging plants. Eugénie takes care of the cooking: carrot cakes, homemade fondant cookies, banana bread... On weekends, you'll flock here for a delicious brunch featuring a savoury platter and an all-you-can-eat sweet buffet (remember to make reservations). The best in town, in our opinion. Theater of greenery, outdoor theater, the Silvain Theater is directed towards the sea, loti behind the Vallon des Auffes. This little personal madness of Mr. Silvain, who had him built in 1923, works again, because he has long been left behind. The 28 000-seat Chamber was renovated and returned to the public in 2011. What a pleasure then to find an eclectic summer program: A lot of music, classical concerts, lyrics, operetta, jazz, world music, dance. The outdoor projections (film fiction fiction, documentaries offered by associations and film projections during the International Documentary Festival) are the other great idea of the theater. We wait for nightfall with family, friends around a picnic, then the sitting begins… Absolutely magnificent frame!

Ideally located on the Quai de Rive-Neuve, Badaboum Théâtre has dedicated its programming to young audiences for over 25 years. The shows and schedules are adapted for very young children, from 3 to 12 years old. On the program: puppet shows, story readings, circus shows and small fairy tales. A snack extends these moments of escape from poetry and history. Workshops and workshops in theatre, circus and dance are also offered during the week and during the holidays, mainly for 5-12 year olds, and occasionally for young actors. Finally, wake-up classes from 18 months are available.

A veritable temple dedicated to classical music, opera and dance, this theatre is one of the city's new must-see buildings. With its modern exterior and Italian-style auditorium, the GTP (Grand Théâtre de Provence) is equipped with the latest technology: high quality acoustics, an orchestra pit with 105 musicians and 1,370 seats, 950 of which are on the floor. In July, it hosts operas from the Festival of Lyric Art. At Easter, the festival of the same name takes place there.

A cocooning and bohemian atmosphere for this atypical space recently located in a small street at the top of the Cours Sextius. It is at the bottom that everything happens: in the double vaulted cellar whitewashed with lime. Inside courtyard style of a bastide for the restaurant part: patinated shutters, bistro chairs and tables, linen benches. Mediterranean atmosphere for the other part: indigo blue walls, cushions and coloured benches. It is a quiet place, conducive to relaxation and conviviality. Board games are available as well as books in the library area. Electric sockets and Wifi access allow you to surf the net. You can enjoy refined teas, herbal teas, Colombian coffee and snack on a cake. A fun, young and friendly atmosphere.

Last bastion of the once flourishing Marseille jazz scene, the Pelle Mêle is located a stone's throw from the Old Port and gathers from Tuesday to Saturday a public of jazz and live music lovers. The program is rich and varied every week with an open mic night every Friday (reservation strongly advised). It is a beautiful place of night life where you can discover local and international artists that you will only ask to follow afterwards. In the evening, accompany your drinks with quesadillas or cuttlefish in parsley.

Near the Docks of La Joliette, this former wheat silo dates from 1927. Rehabilitated in 2011, it is now a performance hall dedicated to artistic programming: concerts, dance, theater, comedy... Labeled as a "20th century heritage site", its development is part of the Euroméditerranée project. A masterpiece of acoustics, visibility and comfort, meticulously studied. Discover this Italian-style theater, a room divided into three balconies with a modularity in "all seated" and "standing" version. This is where the great artists perform in Marseille.

The Les 3 Palmes multiplex in the Valentine's commercial area has 11 high-capacity cinemas equipped with Dolby Digital audio technology. It programs films for the general public in French: Hollywood blockbusters, all the production of French films, including comedies, children's animation films and 3D films in the majority. A very family-friendly, modern and practical American-style multiplex when you want to combine cinema and shopping in the nearby shopping centre, with a confectionery area, a games and leisure area with 30 machines. Restaurants next to the cinema (Hippopotamus and Dixie Blues). A little expensive but the quality of the infrastructure comes at a price. Supervised parking.

A place devoted to entertainment for 150 years, this historic cinema was first called Le Casino (1857) then Les Folies marseillaises (1878) before the construction of the Théâtre des Variétés in 1887, of which the facade sculpted by the architect Joseph Letz remains today. After an uncertain year 2016 and three years of struggle following the loss in 2013 of its Art et Essai label, the future of cinema was shaky, but finally the commercial court ruled and it was taken over by Jean Mizrahi (YMAGIS). Major renovations were undertaken in 2019 and it is now as good as new, while retaining its cachet. Renewed comfort, modernity, a major historical cinema to be supported for sure. Now open all week to satisfy both karaoke fans and those who simply want to relax with a good beer, as the Coco is also a bar. All kinds of drinks up to the desired spirits and cocktails are offered (quite expensive though). Before "karaoker", eat a good ice or a good crepe to give you voice energy. Note that the establishment has a stock of 40 000 titles mainly focused on the international varieties category. Just across from the sea, Coco Bongo adds to a lively (but relaxing) atmosphere with a relaxing cocktail with a cocktail in front of the Great Blue moss.

The reopening of the mythical Corniche club was expected at the turn. A place on 2 floors, which was previously reserved for the quadras, now opens to a young clientele. In 2020, this unmissable Marseilles brasserie celebrated its 110th anniversary! For generations, people have sat there to see or be seen. Today, as in the past, actors filming in Marseille have a drink here, as do politicians looking for contact. The brasserie atmosphere is assured, the terrace XXL, with a panoramic view of the port. You can sunbathe there in summer and winter. It is one of the best places to have breakfast on the terrace. Traditional drinks menu and small kitchen all day, very practical.

The concept is really nice. My Beers is the ideal place to meet up with friends or colleagues after work. In a very stylish decor (red walls, wooden bar and barrels as tables), you can sip no less than 400 different beers! Lovers of brown, blonde or red beers will be won over! From the prestigious Dark Island from Scotland to the more classic Guiness, you are bound to find what you are looking for. What's more, the draught beers change every 3 weeks: no time to get bored!

A popular address for an aperitif from 6.30 pm to 9 pm, with free tapas! Located above the Bellevue Hotel and under the benevolent gaze of the Good Mother, the setting is just as appreciable as the menu, with its woodwork, engravings, and its balcony-terrace which is always full, and for good reason, the view of the port is delicious. Music lovers will be delighted on Wednesday and Friday evenings, when live concerts are organised with a cheese platter and a good glass of wine as a bonus! An address not to be missed in Marseille.

Built on the narrow site of the former royal Jeu de Paume dating from the ^mid-18th century, this superb little Italian-style theater with a capacity of 493 seats has a charm all its own, due in part to the intimate atmosphere it exudes. Completely renovated in 2000, it boasts comfortable seats and perfect acoustics. It works hand in hand with Marseille's Théâtre du Gymnase and the Grand Théâtre de Provence, each year offering a program that alternates from one venue to the other, but is combined in a single catalog offered to the public.

Founded in 1929, the Navy Bar is the essential institution of the Old Port. In particular, it was chosen for the famous part of the card of Raimu. It's like this bar is irremovable in the affection of the Marseillais. Today, the bar, ideally placed, welcomes you from breakfast to dinner and much later. Different populations cross there, tourists to Pagnol lovers, fans of Love Addict (whose scene was there) to the nocturnal once night fell. The staff were very helpful.

The Cup of Tea is a bookshop-tea room with a lovely terrace and a selection of independent booksellers. Ideal for a cup of tea with a good read. In the charming store, with its wood panelling and subdued lighting, you'll find books and bistro tables, and a staircase leading to a cosy, intimate mezzanine - a well-kept secret! The walls are decorated with monthly changing exhibitions. The tea menu features some forty flavors, many of them oriental and exotic from Lapsang Souchong, India, Kenya and Japan, as well as a variety of aromatic blends of green, jasmine and Hanoi monsoon teas, all served in good-sized teapots. You can accompany it with a few good cakes (tarts, cookies, muffins...). Service is warm and friendly.

The tea lovers meeting on Longchamp Boulevard. Teavora, in addition to offering a wide selection of teas from the 4 corners of the world, offers an exotic and relaxing atmosphere. As soon as we get there, we're invited to take off his shoes and move on the sand. Then choose three different atmospheres, including the Berber tent, but also a décor of the islands or an appointment in India in a tastefully decorated room. Almost 80 teas to taste, infusions, tisanes, but it's not just hot… fresh fruit juice and smoothies too. Home pastries will accompany this moment of softness. In Aix it is called «BE». This is an institution on the Cours Mirabeau to take appetizers in happy hours. The outdoor terrace is pleasant in summer and is heated in winter! There's nothing to do with the outdoor terrace, where the music invites you to enjoy the atmosphere at the end of the day. It is rather "electro" and so very connected. You are on the most beautiful avenue of Aix-en-Provence, just opposite the fountain of hot water…

The most beautiful petanque court in the world, luxurious setting with a small wooden chalet on the waterfront. This timeless place has a breathtaking view of the Cap Canaille. On the menu: finger food, cocktails, wine or beer, for a capacity ranging from 50 to 100 people. When you say "pétanque", you say "pastis": there are six different pastis on the menu: classic, licorice or verbena. Ideal for an aperitif or a birthday party. Against all expectations, despite the exceptional location and panorama, beer is not more expensive than on the port of Cassis.

The name is directly inspired by a mythical New York place. The atmosphere resembles the best small electro clubs in European capitals. We are here in the Opera district, but at Danceteria, nothing to do with the atmosphere of the surrounding clubs. Relaxed mentality, love of music, peace of mind and conviviality between dancers, that's all that counts. A welcome concept in a city that is still too old-fashioned in its way of partying. Thanks to places like the Chapiteau or Danceteria, Marseille is in tune with the times. Famous DJs are programmed and announced regularly on social networks. Local and international scene.

Le Lochness is the new and first Scottish pub in Marseille, located next to the Old Port, on the Cours Jean-Ballard. In an authentic setting that refers to the Highlands, a mountainous region passing through Scotland, Le Lochness offers the discovery of the legends of the Battle of Culloden clans and the best Scottish beverages!

A century-old club since 2017, the Académie de Billard de Marseille has seen thousands of games played. If today cigar smoke above the green carpet is totally prohibited, we always make the balls clash, graze the carambola and handle the "flow", the "side" under the low lights.... The pure charm of American pool circles is there. Once you have passed the staircase, you enter a lair of regulars. 14 billiard tables (French, American and blackball billiards). You can also have a drink with your colleagues. Today, novices are welcome with introductory sessions during the week for them.

For over 60 years, smokers of all species have been in the Old port bar. It is known for two reasons: open in the evening, you can buy cigarettes until 22 p. m. in the winter and much later in summer. An indoor space on the floor is reserved for the tobacco addicts. Drink a café on the terrace, order a bakery or a sandwich all day, buy an ice, find together support the Olympique de Marseille in front of the giant screen are the additional proposals of this smoking bar not like the others. A nice setting and a nice ambiance, but a nice atmosphere for the game nights with good child fans.

It is a place not to be missed for the Arles parties. A great atmosphere, a top staff and a really pleasant setting, what more could you ask for? A beautiful terrace where it is pleasant to consume for example. Well, that's exactly the case. We really liked the cocktails and the little food that goes with it. It's really the perfect place to relax and have a great time with friends over a good beer, in moderation of course.

Here is the beautiful Café Célestine, in the heart of the village. The owners of the place are no novices, since they used to run the Micocoulier in Eygalières. On the menu, a cuisine from here and elsewhere, sometimes surprising, always tasty like the cannelloni à la Monégasque, spinach, chard and meat juice. Of course, everything is homemade, from the appetizer to the dessert. In the latter, we recommend the green apple and lemon pavlova. Note that the establishment alternates coffee, restaurant noon and evening, non-stop, for a moment of happiness.

Alongside the Quai du rire located in the same complex, the Comédie Club Vieux-Port has made a name for itself in the Marseilles comedy scene, especially in stand-up and improv. Ideally located on the Old Port in the heart of the Kev Adams space, you will find here a friendly, intimate room, allowing you to be close to the artists on stage. The cream of the local scene, recognized or not, headliners and a very nice atmosphere for the stand-up evenings which allow to reveal the talents of tomorrow. Marseille is rich in talent at this level - also and places like the Comédie Club Vieux-Port allow the blossoming of these nuggets!

The Trolleybus is one of the oldest discotheques in Marseille. This is a fact but it is still in the air of time and eternal youth. Its location on the Old Port, very close to many bars, makes it one of the busiest night spots in the city every weekend. Established in the galleries of the former galley arsenal, the nightclub is made up of several rooms with different atmospheres. All generations will therefore find their happiness there. A petanque room even completes the whole.

In place of the Great R, the Grand Théâtre de Provence opened the Teddy Bar, a cosy atmosphere of a pub, open the evenings of representation from 19 H and two new intermission bars - one in the lobby, one in the patio for smokers (and non smokers).

A good evening, in love or between friends, around a good wine accompanied by a charcuterie and cheese board… it is hardly necessary to be happy. The Eden Cinema is a cinema as we like it. It smells good the cinema of our childhood while being equipped with a digital room offering the best projections. It is inseparable from the cultural and associative news of the village. Its programming is of great quality and offers the latest releases, both blockbusters and films of authors. It also offers the program of the Royal Opera House broadcasted live! It is the partner of the literary prize of the "Novel that feels good". In 2019, the Eden celebrated its 100 years. A monument!

Gone are the days when you would wander around looking for a real good coffee after a dip in Malmousque or Maldormé. With Boujou, everything is now at your fingertips, with a postcard decor in the background. So take your latté, flat white or a freshly squeezed juice with you and enjoy it all with your feet in the water. Unless you prefer to sit at one of the nice little tables in front of the counter and enjoy the natural kindness of Louise, the owner. Excellent homemade pastries, addictive, cakes, cookies and brownies will tease your senses. An excellent address that the neighborhood needed.

Opened in November 2022 on a small and lively square of the Cours Julien, this dance bar is a model of its kind, quite unique in the city: a place for all, without distinction of gender and sex, where tolerance and benevolence are the order of the day. The public is rather young but mixes during the night. The musical program is rather focused on electronic music. The customers feel good and not judged, we can only appreciate this kind of place which is widespread in Northern Europe but still too rare in our Mediterranean cities.

Halfway between the Palais Longchamp and the Réformés, a new bar has been opened to liven up the pleasant boulevard Longchamp. A beautiful, wide terrace for a new establishment opened by a young team eager to offer a place where having a drink rhymes with conviviality between friends and tasting aperitif platters on the go. It's a great concept and a real hit with a young clientele who have become fans of the restaurant's excellent cocktails. At lunchtime, we serve a burrata, a sandwich of the day and a few simple suggestions on the slate. A friendly, smiling welcome, a fine wine list and live music at weekends.

Le Cancan or New Cancan, depending on the name, is THE reference for gay clubbing in Marseille. Founded in 1991 by Michel Piacenza, it's just a stone's throw from the Canebière, and attracts a gay and gay-friendly clientele every Saturday in a supercharged atmosphere. In the 1970s, the creator of Le Cancan created one of the city's first openly gay bars. A pioneer in his field, the club is now well accepted as the only gay club in the city (surprising for France's second-largest city).

Justine opened her coffee shop after training as a barista and roaster, and working as an apprentice in Bordeaux, Madrid and Portugal. She roasts her beans on site, from Mexico, Ethiopia and Honduras. Each origin has a different flavor: full-bodied, balanced, full-bodied or light. Justine will advise you on how to choose from the different beans on offer. You can also sit down for a coffee with homemade brownies or cake - that's the Kaki concept, a convivial place.

Apart from the offices and the Christian life, the parish Notre-Dame-du-Mont regularly organises outings (type hikes, pilgrimages…) and various concerts, thanks to a formidable acoustics: classical, but also jazz and folk music. Let's remember that in 1839 Frédéric Chopin in person pianota for the funeral of a friend during his passage to Marseille. At Christmas, the atmosphere is particularly moving.
