In the 1970s, the creator of Le Cancan created one of the city's first openly gay bars. A pioneer in his field, the club is now well accepted as the only gay club in the city (surprising for France's second-largest city).

A successor of the legendary Poulpason, a true night institution in the Plaine district, the club has become a reference in the small community of Marseille's electronic music. Thanks to a sophisticated programming involving international and local artists, the Baby recently had the honors of the national specialized press.
