This iconic festival has been held every year at the end of January for 50 years. For four days, the city welcomes the world's greatest comic book artists and scriptwriters, as well as tens of thousands of fans. The National Comic Strip Center (CNBDI) symbolizes this dynamic also carried by Magélis-Pôle Image, the economic development program based on industries, technologies and trades of the image.

For over thirty years, the Service départemental de la lecture (SDL) has been organizing a storytelling festival. It features renowned storytellers from all over the world, as well as theater companies and professional musicians. The storytellers become tellers of mysterious, funny and moving stories, inspired by dreams or reality. The shows, which are free of charge, tour some forty towns in the département. This festival is a not-to-be-missed event in the Charente, eagerly awaited by all audiences!

Every year, the Imprévu concocts a nice program of concerts (in 2011 Les hurlements d'Léo and Tryo) that attracts about 2,000 visitors to the small village of Montemboeuf.
