This iconic festival has been held every year at the end of January for 50 years. For four days, the city welcomes the world's greatest comic book artists and scriptwriters, as well as tens of thousands of fans. The National Comic Strip Center (CNBDI) symbolizes this dynamic also carried by Magélis-Pôle Image, the economic development program based on industries, technologies and trades of the image.

The Cognac Festival is a great event both gastronomic, with the possibility to taste the delicious products of the region (cognac, pineau des Charentes, local wines, cagouilles, meat, melon, nuts and cheeses), and musical. The 8th edition of Mars Planète Danse offers four evenings composed of nine pieces in order to see dance in a different way, as a constellation of shows that opens on different universes and makes the imagination work. For over thirty years, the Service départemental de la lecture (SDL) has been organizing a storytelling festival. It features renowned storytellers from all over the world, as well as theater companies and professional musicians. The storytellers become tellers of mysterious, funny and moving stories, inspired by dreams or reality. The shows, which are free of charge, tour some forty towns in the département. This festival is a not-to-be-missed event in the Charente, eagerly awaited by all audiences!

Every year, the Imprévu concocts a nice program of concerts (in 2011 Les hurlements d'Léo and Tryo) that attracts about 2,000 visitors to the small village of Montemboeuf. The association of this festival with the crazy team of Groland (Mickael Kael and Kervern in the lead) spices up the affair. And the festival has always associated in its adventure the reception center for mentally handicapped people.

This rural trail is the guaranteed decoupling combined with a beautiful sporting challenge! Through different trails and walking, you can discover the bucolic valley of Sonnette and its rural heritage: hamlets, fountains, mills, viaducts, Roman bridges… At the end of the events, an aperitif will be offered by the city hall and a campground buffet (paid) will be offered with a small concert. In Cognac, every September for almost 30 years, the street arts have been heating up the asphalt to the delight of spectators. Inventive, amusing and poetic, the artists make the back-to-school season a joyful one, from the Place ^{François-Ier} to the Jardin Public, via the courtyard of the museum, with acrobatics, music and hilarious, joyful and astonishing sketches. Over the course of three days, some fifteen shows will delight young and old alike! The festival is free of charge! Remember to make reservations for certain shows.

Each year the event allows to attend the races in town, animations, exhibitions of vehicles, tourist rally on the roads of Charente... Several categories of vehicles take part in this historical event: GT and tourisms before and after 1965, pre-war, the famous Bugatti plateau, Grand Prix cars from 1908 to 1954. Some vehicles take part in the concours d'élégance or in the state and restoration contest.

Like champagne bubbles in crystal glass, colorful balloons slide into the Ciel sky. It is the rendezvous of dozens of balloons coming to compete for four days for the European Cup, which is only taking place in odd years. 2009 is the 16 th edition and the 20 th World Women's Cup.
