The old mannequins and the walls decorated with buttons remind us of the old haberdashery that occupied the place. One of the three addresses of the Ferreira family business, which has imported Portuguese cuisine to Montreal from father to daughter. Café Vasco de Gama offers fast food tailored to the business clientele who frequent the place in the mornings and at lunchtime. The menu features mainly Portuguese-inspired sandwiches (fresh sardines, chicken and chouriço) or more classic sandwiches (smoked salmon bagel or vegetarian and goat's cheese sandwich), served with soup or salad. Charles-Antoine Crête, who officiated for over 15 years as chef de cuisine at Toqué! alongside his friend and mentor Normand Laprise, opened Montréal Plaza in 2015 with two long-time acolytes. The two poached eggs with foie gras are a must (brioche bread, duck eggs, pan-fried foie gras, foie gras sauce, onion compote, Prosciutto chips, poppy seeds, arugula shoots, honey-glazed rabioles). Bonus: a really cool cocktail menu.

Beautiful small unpretentious square with brick wall, recycled lamps and retro furniture. Very much in the spirit of the neighborhood! According to some, Tuck Shop has a little je-ne-sais-quoi reminiscent of the Monkland Tavern in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce district in its early days. At Pastaga, we put Quebec on the plate with local products and dishes of varied inspiration. But we're also in a wine bar, with a beautiful 100% natural menu. This "appellation" refers to those small estates where the vintner-peasant takes care of all the stages of production, from the vine to the bottling, using no chemical treatment of the vines and soils, and no inputs into the winemaking process. In short, as you will have understood, the emphasis here is on proximity and quality.

The service is all smiles in this restaurant where black and white predominate. A brightly colored wall painting and blown glass lamps brighten up the room. In the kitchen, we find this classic and sober base, sprinkled with a good dose of creativity. As a starter, for example, we can taste the shiitake ravioli with parmesan and truffle oil. Among the house's most popular dishes: BBQ ribs, pulled pork sandwich (also available in a poutine version), BBQ salmon, chicken sandwich with Alabama sauce, and well-topped burgers. Big appetites will opt for the Assiette du p'tit boss, which combines several specialties. It is served with a beer from a Quebec microbrewery or, to stay within the theme, a small bourbon (American whiskey).

The chef went to Barcelona for inspiration while meeting renowned chefs including Ferran Adrià. His menu is affected, with several products being imported directly from Spain, including sausages, pork and wines, the majority of which are private Catalan imports carefully selected by the sommelier. Even the Josper oven made the trip from Barcelona, giving an authentic smoky flavour to meats, fish and vegetables. As for the décor, it is both raw and chic, a thousand miles from what is found in the surrounding area.

We're way too fond of this new kind of diner in the Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie neighborhood. The retro decor of this little gourmet space already makes us smile, but it's the comfort food menu that has us completely hooked. We've tried almost everything over the months, from the regular dishes to the current inspirations: chicken curry club sandwich, shrimp guédille (the most generous ever), fried chicken burger, poutine, meatloaf and the list goes on. Natural wines and craft beers top it all off.

Lovers of Brittany, hello! Those nostalgic for buckwheat pancakes, salted butter caramel and whole pancakes will find their happiness in the charming crêperie of Frédéric, a native of Rennes. Everything here is homemade! A little curiosity: the production of buckwheat flour, rich in proteins and antioxidants and naturally gluten-free, is very widespread in Quebec. The products used are therefore mainly local. The restaurant offers two sizes of pancakes (normal or large) and four menus.

A small institution in the Saint-Henri district, Satay Brothers offers Singaporean cuisine in a long room with a jumble of tables that mix friends and strangers in a general hubbub fed by pop music. On the plate, taste. The satay is excellent, as is the green papaya salad and the laksa soup. The prices are low, but the tapas-like portions will make the bon vivants reorder, to the point where the bill is much higher than the menu would suggest. Nevertheless, a great address if you're in the area.

A bistro with a refined style, offering dishes from the South West of France, with a touch of imagination. The cuisine offered by Chef Jérôme Chatenet is an invitation to discover. The textures and flavours combine with maliciously, for the delight of gourmets. The selection of starters and dishes is short but sufficient due to the quality of the choice. The dishes are typical of Périgord, the plates are well presented and very interesting. The atmosphere is relaxing, with soft music and a service as gentle as efficient. Add to this a very good value-for-money ratio and well-selected wines, and we get an address that distinguishes itself, for our great pleasure.

William, Dominique and Chloé welcome you in their elegant, warm and friendly restaurant. They offer a cuisine of the South that follows the seasons, without frills but with great finesse. Come and enjoy a pissaladière, supions à l'escabèche, a duck breast in a sauce made with the fruits of the moment with garlic purée and zucchini spaghetti, a sauté of veal with Corsican style gnocchi, or a mackerel in white wine with onion purée and chard with herbs. A colourful trip, with wines and local beers as a bonus!

Above all, The Farsides pays homage to hip-hop culture in every corner of its den, from the decor (mention should be made of the mural featuring Slick Rick) to the background music and the names of the cocktails. On the gourmet side, the cuisine blends Hawaiian and Thai styles, with fish and seafood taking center stage. Everything is delicious, and we're still dreaming of the Hat Yai fried chicken and mango salad. The house cocktails and sangrias are also a must. A beautiful caliente atmosphere in this cerveceria de barrio (neighbourhood brasserie) decorated with a huge fresco, winks to Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, skulls in the style of Cinco de Mayo... The house specialties are tapas and tacos of all kinds, but also some raw and grilled pork chops, and desserts such as hot churros with Nutella. At the helm are true wine and Spanish enthusiasts who have decided to transcribe the Spanish art of living. Tapas to share, like classic patatas bravas and fried squid, but also creations like cheese portobello or tilapia ceviche. The wine list is exclusively natural, organic or biodynamic, with many private imports.

On a beautiful summer day in Old Montreal, we had an irresistible craving for lobster. That's how we discovered this gourmet table that puts forward the products of lakes, rivers and the sea. The lobster is undoubtedly the great star of the place, whole, in raviolis or in guédille (this famous sandwich that we tested, filled generously with lobster meat). The decoration of the restaurant makes some references to the maritime world, in particular with its lobster cages acting as suspended lamps. To test: the Bloody Pincette cocktail.

A poutine with kimchi, hot sauce and fried chicken, amazing isn't it? Well, it exists, and was even voted best poutine of Poutine Week 2021. The place to find it is, of course, at La Belle Tonki, the meeting point of Cambodian, Vietnamese and Quebecois cultures. This fusion restaurant, right down to the chopsticks, offers delicious phô, banh-mi burgers, cheese ramen and poutine. Unheard of as it may seem, it's a successful bet! Often credited as the best fried chicken sandwich in town. We had to check it out... So a soft bun, a fresh herb mayonnaise sauce, pickles, lettuce and a nice piece of chicken breast marinated in piri-piri, then in buttermilk before being fried. So the rumor was true, especially since the other sandwich recipes are just as good. With a growing success, those who were initially installed in a temporary residence in a record shop finally acquired in 2022 their own room.
