MACARON DE LAUZERTE

Patisserie
4/5
1 review

This local speciality can be found at a... delicatessen! The talented Bonnefous family, Jacques, Marie-Josée and their daughter Françoise, are passionate about quality and respect for the best products. They are the only ones to perpetuate this ancient recipe of the legendary Lauzerte macaroon known since the 11th century. This macaroon does not resemble in any way these small fours stilted in their shell of ice. With their ripe wheat colour, they are cracked on the outside, soft and full of sweetness on the inside. The almond flavours take our soul back to childhood.

CHÂTEAU SAINT-LOUIS

Winery

Magnificent residence, of regional and Persian style. A vineyard divided between tradition and modernism gives the best of its soil. The vines, managed in organic culture certified by Ecocert, are strewn with perennial flowers, lupins, fenugreek, oats, broad beans and other plants that transfer nitrogen from the air to the earth! This quality policy results in yields below the appellation limit. The king grape variety for Fronton wines, as for the estate, remains the négrette (called pinot Saint-Georges in the United States).

Benefiting from a prolific terroir, the market is the showcase of all these products with a privileged relationship between the producer and the consumer. Let yourself be carried away by the scents of lavender, croustade, walnut oil, but also foie gras, duck confit, black pudding, truffles grown (in winter) on the plateaux of the Causse, quince honey for jam!

Little running to find into full downtown an average surfaces with petrol pumps (single distributor of the super E85 ethanol, 20 km with the round) and also a drive which gives the availability in 5 minutes of your shopping to Intermarket price in your trunk, or also the possibility of delivery at your home (very appreciated service). This Intermarket Contact must be the one of rare of this range of shop to have such a service. The shop will be perfect for fast races, more especially as one finds there an anthology of the products of the rich local quercy.

The Château du Clau, one of the only apple producers in the department to press its own juice, has been part of a family history since 1898. Today it is Etienne, the last of this fine lineage who is at the head of the estate. His family has passed on from generation to generation a passion for high quality fruit juice. In the bottles of apple juice from the Château du Clau, we rediscover the taste of 100% natural fruit. Like great wines, the natural and sparkling fruit juices are elaborated in the cellars of the estate.

In the 70's, the Romain family took over this very old estate, ripped out the hybrids and replanted with more noble grape varieties. The appellation Vins de Pays des Coteaux et Terrasses de Montauban was born. For more than twenty years, the sons Philippe and Thierry have been at the helm of this beautiful 70-hectare vineyard, and offer a very complete range of wines. Generous reds, very respectable whites. Rosés too, like the Syrah rosé which won a silver medal and the Mas des Anges rosé, gold medal at the Mondial du Rosé.

LA FERME DU RAMIER

Regional grocery cheese and cream shops
4/5

A magnificent farm whose success can be praised: to impose a cheese, the "tome du Ramier" from a region which, a priori, is not frankly one of the most cheesy, it was not a foregone conclusion. This is what the Maraval family has achieved, with a herd of 110 milkmaids and a magnificent high-tech production tool. The cows themselves choose the milking time with a self-service system. Today, the daughters Edith and Hélène have taken over the farm. The shop offers ripened cheeses and fresh products.

MARCHÉS FERMIERS

On Wednesdays, the market is more confidential, with only local fruit and vegetable producers. On Saturdays, it is the most important and most diversified market. It remains traditional with once again many local producers, a good majority of whom offer organic products, but it has a slightly fair spirit with non-food products as well. You will be able to buy fancy or designer jewellery, straw hats, various clothes and even flowers and plants

This family canning business founded in 1888, a real institution in Beaumont de Lomagne, has managed to keep its traditional character intact while negotiating development and diversification. Micouleau's top-of-the-range products are a real gem of Gascon gastronomy: duck terrines, cassoulets, confits, foies gras, products that have regularly won medals at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris since 2009... Oc'Ale beers were born in Lafrançaise in 1998. It is one of the oldest breweries in the Midi-Pyrénées region. The brewery produces fairly classic, old-fashioned beers in the pure tradition of top-fermented beers. The first brews produce two beers: a very smooth white and a rather malty black. A blonde and an amber follow. New beers have arrived, including an IPA and now a range of seven beers. You can visit the factory by prior appointment. The welcome is friendly and very educational.

The Larroque canning factory is an institution as well known as the Ingres museum. Specialising in the production of preserved duck fat, the 180 m² shop is attached to the workshops where the palmipeds of 25 regional producers are processed. Here, handmade products and traceability are the signature. Since 1980, its know-how has been recognised, and in view of this success, the range has been extended: home-made charcuterie, Label Rouge smoked salmon from Scotland, pork, ready-made meals, but always with the same high standards, regional products made on the spot.

LA CAVE BIO BLANC ROUGE

Caviste
3/5
1 review

"Organic, white and red" is the motto, and we almost feel like adding "rosé"! A small, colourful cellar in the town centre run by Simon Delpérié, a young enthusiast. The emphasis is on the wonderful wines of the neighbouring Languedoc region, produced by organic farmers. Of course, you can also find all the Gallic terroirs. The ideal is to let yourself be tempted by a tasting on the barrels placed on the pavement of the street. The shop has moved a few dozen meters to more spacious premises, but still in the rue du Greffe.
