THE NAPOLEON III AND EUGENIE WALK
Read moreWalk in the steps of Napoleon III and Eugénie de Montijo and follow the history of the imperial couple who stayed in the spa resort from August to October 1859. The Empress made a 23-day cure considerably improving his health. When she did not take the waters or did not engage in any kind of activity, she was leaving for a built-in walk. You have to imagine the beautiful lady and his cortege, swallowed in corsets compressing the chest, boots of boots and bearing multiple jupons… Today, you're leaving the light foot! The promenade begins at the town hall, at the Maison Gradet-Poque, which housed the Council of Ministers of Napoleon, continues towards the Napoleon Bridge, which decided its construction during its stay, and leads you to the thermal district where a visit of the thermal springs to the imposing columns of marble and glass is required. The trail passes through the chapel of Solférino, built under Napoleon III, who had his initials and those of his wife graving above the door. The chapel owes its name to the battle, which lived the French victory over the Austrians in June 1859. A beautiful walk all in history and landscapes!
