Read moreIt is a volcano that gave birth to this malpaís that now constitutes the coast. It is a characteristic example of the arid coastal ecosystem of the cardónal-tabaibal, with numerous candelabra euphorbias(cardón in Spanish). It can be reached from Puertito, or from the village of Güímar, heading towards the coast along a small road that runs parallel to the motorway exit and under the latter. There is a good view of the volcano and its lava field from the Don Martín viewpoint, 4 km south of the village, on the road to Fasnia.

Read moreThis hermitage was built in 1506 by order of Governor Alonso Fernández de Lugo and placed under the invocation of Archangel San Miguel. The statue of the saint is kept in the church of Santo Domingo and is venerated every year on its patron saint's day, September 29th. You can also visit the seventeenth-century church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, which has beautiful Mudejar coffered ceilings and some paintings by Cristóbal Hernández de la Quintana, a Canary painter.

Of Baroque inspiration, this church has a central nave in the shape of a Latin cross and a wooden frame typical of the Canary Islands. The paintings and sculptures were all created in a very particular style of the Canarian school. Among the goldsmith works that decorate it are the golden diadem of San Antonio, which dates from 1617, the processional cross from the same period and six large candleholders from the early eighteenth century.

If you are three (or more), prefer a boat ticket to go from the barranco to the port of Los Gigantes and book a taxi to go from the port to Masca, it will be cheaper for you.
