SANTIAGO CHURCH
Read moreThe church of Santiago (Santiago de Compostela) is the oldest on the island. It was built in 1498, two years after the end of the conquest, and partially restored afterwards. One of the bells (18th century) was donated by the Catholic Monarchs Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon. Its interior houses the altarpiece dedicated to Santa Barbara, attributed to Pedro Duque Cornejo, from the eighteenth century, a work described as a jewel of Canary Baroque, and the Mudéjar coffered ceiling of the presbytery dedicated to Santiago is also noteworthy.

BOTANICAL GARDEN
Read moreThe botanical garden is located in the east of the city, about 2 km from the centre, on the heights. It can be reached on foot, by the carretera del Botánico, or by bus. Founded in 1788, this garden, one of the most important in the world, is mainly a acclimatation garden: You won't discover Canary flora, but you'll get wandering in shady walks by trees in Africa, Asia or Latin America. For example, the Canary Palm will be compared to other members of his family. A pleasant corner of green where it makes good strolls.

THE CALETÓN DE GARACHICO
Read moreThis is surely the most pleasant activity when you are in Garachico: swimming in its natural pools. It was the last eruption of the Trevejo volcano, which occurred in 1706 and buried a large part of the village. When it erupted into the sea, it created these natural pools that bear the name of the caletón rock. Except in case of high tide, you can swim there without any problem, as the natural pools are of all sizes, even for the little ones, and finish the day in the restaurants located in the complex.
