A classic in the city center, Can Avelino is a regular spot for lunchtime feasting on a low-priced menu in a pleasant bistro atmosphere. From tapas to main courses, the plates are generously garnished, and local produce is the order of the day. In addition to the Spanish staples, there are a number of original dishes such as sweet potato with green pesto, breaded shrimp with mayonnaise and mango, and chicken curry with red peppers. Great value for money.

We've fallen in love with this fine restaurant nestling on the sea passage. Here, the focus is on Menorcan cuisine. Everything is homemade, from starters to desserts. Good products on the plate: fish kilometer zero, Menorcan meat (we recommend the excellent solomillo de ternera)... and delicious traditional dishes à la carte (caldereta, arroz caldoso...). Those with a sweet tooth will end up with a Sa Xerxa, a kind of cheesecake with dulce de leche, mascarpone and oreo (very sweet, but very good!) or a tarta de queso de Mahon.

Sa Taula is Fornells' trendy restaurant. Situated in the village's Carrer Major, the white building, whose silhouette is reminiscent of the island's famous taules talayotiques, is home to a delightful restaurant serving Mediterranean-style recipes! In short, an authentic and different place where magic happens! You'll enjoy sipping a cocktail or a cold beer on the building's roof-top, overlooking the bay as the sun sets. A unique space to discover!

Pilar González was just 18 when she arrived in Menorca and met her husband Sebastián, the son of a Menorcan fisherman. They decided to open this traditional restaurant in the small port of Fornells. The menu features the famous caldereta de llagosta and other fresh seafood. Unfortunately, this very popular spot in high season is often full, so you'll need to book several days in advance to be able to sample Pilar's tasty home cooking.

The marine decor and the mouth-watering aroma of freshly prepared seafood immediately set the mood. Its privileged location, with terrace facing the sparkling little port, is an undeniable asset, but expect this to influence the bill! Here, dishes are prepared with care, highlighting the freshness of ingredients, from lobsters to delicate fish presented with simplicity to preserve all their flavors. Bondhu is an Indian specialty restaurant opened in 2017 offering gluten-free dishes. Meat dishes in sauce, as well as a host of vegetarian and vegan options are on the menu at this address, which gives pride of place to traditional Hindu cuisine. Chickpea and lentil-based dishes are sure to please gluten-intolerant diners, but one thing's for sure: whatever you order, you'll be treated to subtle, straightforward flavors! The very first restaurant in the prestigious eponymous restaurant group, Ses Forquilles has been serving East End gourmets for almost two decades now! In 2021, the cosmopolitan tavern may have moved to the premises of the Cristine Bedfor boutique-hotel (with independent access) to enjoy a more functional and luminous setting, but the preparations and welcome remain unchanged! Chefs Marco Collado and Oriol Castell continue to work creatively with local produce from the sea and land, producing results that are not lacking in character!

Opposite the fish market, this bistro, announced by a few stand-up barrels placed right on the street, has the charm of the old and the audacity of the new! A dream location for this restaurant that concocts rice-based specialties, fresh fish and cocktails, literally at the foot of the beach! We're fans of the sparkling setting and creative cuisine of this charming address nestled in a pedestrian street not far from the Cathedral. Run by a friendly Frenchman from Chauvoncourt, a commune in the Meuse region, this bistro-restaurant is a delight, both for its old-fashioned setting full of carefully chosen antique details and for its relaxed atmosphere. It has to be said that the owner is extremely welcoming and does everything to make you feel at home. On the plate, the menu changes from day to day, depending on the harvest, the market and the chef's inspiration. A little corner of France in the heart of the village. We love it!

A gastronomic institution in the center of the island for decades (the address has existed since 1968), Restaurant Jeni is housed in the same building as the hotel of the same name. We love this little café full of sweet and savory delights for eating on the go (or to take away) right across from the cathedral. The food is prepared with fresh ingredients, and you can feel it in every bite. El Chivito is a simple little restaurant where good humor is always the order of the day. It has tables indoors, but above all a lovely terrace overlooking the pretty natural marina of Es Castell. From a tiny counter in the town's old center, a mother and daughter, both Madrilenians, prepare splendid, tasty tortillas with a smile! Nestled in a cave, this typical seafood restaurant with its nautical decor spreads out its large white and blue terrace at the entrance to the port. The à la carte menu focuses on seafood specialities and traditional recipes, such as seafood paella or the famous caldereta, not forgetting dishes based on bluefin tuna. As is often the case with this type of establishment, which is a little touristy, the bill can rise very, very quickly. Of particular note: the freshness of the products (thanks to their proximity to the sea!) and the pleasant setting.

Downstairs from the hotel of the same name, the Loar restaurant can seat up to 150 people and is open to non-residents of the hotel, which is rather good news given the excellent value for money of the cuisine served. A contemporary bistro in the heart of the old town, opened by the owners of S'Amarador, a well-known restaurant in the port of Cuitadella. The tapas from the sea (the house specialty!) have a Mediterranean flavour and are served in a warm, sober setting. Their star product is oysters, available in 5 different varieties selected for their freshness and quality. Try the red tuna tataki, ceviche (depending on the catch of the day) or the excellent bellota ham.

You can also order or collect your meal directly from the Ulisses Bar. What a change from the typical sandwiches for picnics on the beach!

Ses Culleres is the latest gastronomic venture from the Ses Forquilles group! Here we find the same philosophy as in the group's other addresses - quality, local and seasonal produce - with classic Mediterranean recipes, but also some more contemporary and original proposals. The location of Ses Culleres is also quite fabulous, as it is situated in the emblematic Marès building and boasts a sensational terrace overlooking the port of Maó! A superb place where you can always eat well!

You'll discover this friendly, healthy café on a pleasant little square, Plaça d'Artrutx. On the terrace, at breakfast or lunchtime, sweet and savory mingle, with vegan pancakes and delicious (cold-pressed) fruit juices, homemade kimchi sandwiches and acai bowls. As indicated on the menu, the vast majority of products used are organic and local, and all their breads are sourdough. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and even sugar-free options! Several types of kombucha too. Healthy and very good.

In a sensational natural setting, just a stone's throw from the sea, you can enjoy chef Jorge Landa's rice dishes(arroces) based on local produce, as well as fish and meat dishes, including some delicious tartars, as well as excellent salads and a variety of tapas! A fine selection of wines and national and craft beers.

This is Menorca's first boutique hotel, often cited in the international press, launched in 1998 by Sheelagh-Lindsay Ratliff-Mullen, an English fashion designer (who died in 2023) who transformed an old ^17th-century farmhouse into a haven of peace in pure Mediterranean style. The garden is superb, the interiors of both the hotel and its 18 rooms are rustic in style, and the restaurant is most romantic. The swimming pool and terrace, set under the pergola, are a delight.

The menu is short, the produce is fresh, the sunsets splendid... All that's left is to wish La Frañola the best of luck!

A new project from chef Pere Pons, Es Racó de Macaret is a restaurant and gastrobar located in one of Menorca's most charming coastal areas: Na Macaret, on the north coast.
