Events calendar Saône-Et-Loire

For ten days at the beginning of May, Montceau-les-Mines will be hosting the Outre-Mer en Bourgogne festival. The aim of the festival is to highlight the role of the Saône-et-Loire region in the abolition of slavery. The festival also tackles the subjects of racism and living together, through music, dance, gastronomy and exhibitions. One of the highlights in 2024 will be Marie-Claude Bottius's recital on opera and her view of "exoticism" in the ^19th century.

Still in birds, the turkey fair in Marcigny (71). On the second weekend of December, the streets of Marcigny animate a fair to the turkeys and geese, a pretext for colourful parades in different gastronomic brotherhoods.

The festival of Les Rugissantes is a highlight of the street arts festival Les Beaux Bagages. During three days, the festival proposes a great diversity of artistic creations with more than 35 performances orchestrated by 18 companies and with the return of the Standing Man. It is the famous giant wicker puppet built by the Creusotins in a participative and poetic approach. The festival will keep its promises, as already for more than ten years, with its convivial atmosphere in the whole city and for all the publics.

A unique event in Burgundy, this Indoor Trial has been in existence for 10 years and still attracts as many motorcycle and mountain bike enthusiasts as ever. The event brings together the best riders and mountain bikers in the world for an exceptional show!

The French VW Bus meeting is one of Europe's biggest gatherings of Combis Wolkswagen... in the smallest village in Saône-et-Loire. Over a long weekend, Chérizet (20 inhabitants year-round) becomes the Combi capital, bringing together 2,000 vehicles and a host of enthusiasts (30,000 visitors at the last event, in 2022). Combi exhibition, Combi cross, flyboard (on the lake) and BMX demonstrations are on the program. Sound and light shows, concerts, hot-air balloon rides and a large children's playground are also planned.

La Grange Rouge is a large cultural association whose aim is to promote all aspects of Bresse's heritage. Theater, dance, music, gastronomy, heritage and environmental workshops are offered year-round through a rich program of festivals, including the famous Trad en Fête. Another event that has earned the town a European reputation for its flea markets is the organization of four huge flea markets (July 7, August 4, September¹ and 22, 2024), bringing together hundreds of exhibitors.

Every two years, from July to October, Bourbon-Lancy becomes the world capital of portrait photography, with the images of some 300 photographers exhibited outdoors in green spaces and heritage sites. The event includes an international portrait photography competition and group exhibitions. "Documenting the singularities of our society, opening up horizons, offering all audiences the chance to experience images" are just some of the ambitions of the 2024 edition, marking the event's 20th anniversary.

For ten days at the end of February and the beginning of March, Chalon-sur-Saône vibrates to the rhythm of the "gôniots", the carnival-goers who take over the town. Two large parades on consecutive Sundays are the highlight of the^5th largest carnival in France. Decorated floats, papier-mâché heads, marching bands and majorettes from all over the world make their way through the town center, with huge confetti battles everywhere. Other highlights include Carnaband's Show, a musical extravaganza featuring 500 artists from all over Europe, and a huge funfair with over a hundred rides.

The Roule ma Poule operation is a day dedicated to cycling organized by the Saône Doubs Bresse tourist office in partnership with the San-Martin cycling club. Three cycling tours are on offer, with approximately 30, 60 or 80 km on the 2024 program. The routes are open to all, for young and old, amateurs and experienced cyclists alike, and are well signposted, with no major difficulties in this generally flat area. Catering and a variety of entertainment round off the day's program, providing a little comfort for the less hardy.

Every year, Confluence en fête celebrates the Saône and Doubs rivers in an original way. In 2024, the program will include nautical activities and educational events linked to the riches of the water: kayak and boat trips (including old sailing ships), diving and model-boat initiations, a jousting tournament, and mechanical surfing (a bit like rodeo, but on a board, on dry land). A water village featuring environmental education and natural heritage awareness players will also be on hand, with plenty of entertainment.

Les Folles Escales, part of the Les beaux bagages summer cultural season, is a delightful musical highlight to round off the summer in style at the end of August. Over the course of two evenings, the public is treated to the sounds of festive bands, inviting them to travel and dance. No huge headliners like in the big festivals, but some great names, like the Orchestre national de Barbès in 2024, and several local groups. A tasty moment of letting go, just a few weeks before the start of the new school year.

The café-théâtre can accommodate around 150 people. The café-théâtre website features a calendar of upcoming shows, including theater, improvisation, circus and concerts. You can also enjoy a glass of local produce. The café-théâtre also offers invitations and discounts for certain shows. To get to Kezaco Café-Théâtre, we recommend parking in the Rambuteau parking lot, which is close to Mâcon town center.

Manaraha is an aromatherapy service located in Cormatin, in the rue de la Filaterie. They produce essential oils, in particular from Madagascar. Cormatin is famous for its 17th-century château, which is a major tourist attraction in the region.
