Things to see and do Pacific Coast

It is a small lake that is worth visiting in week, when it is not invaded by the families of the town of Colima. You can hire boats, fish and grill fish. Camping and rooms for rent.

For nature lovers, this is an exceptional, if physical, hike. Beginners can start at the central viewpoint for a gentler experience, while experienced hikers will aim instead for the Archdeacon Bridge, a 10 km climb with 500 meters of ascent over almost 3 km. The return journey can include a climb up an old railroad line, albeit a more difficult one due to the steep gradient. Bring at least a liter of water, suitable walking shoes, and start early, preferably before noon.

Every Thursday and Sunday, the main streets of downtown Tonalá are transformed into a veritable paradise for lovers of handicrafts and Mexican culture. Spanning some 3 kilometers, Tonalá's Tianguis market is an immersive experience that's well worth a full day if you have the time. Whether you're looking for ceramics, traditional masks, sculptures, kitchenware or alebrijes, it's all within easy reach. To avoid the crowds, an early morning visit is ideal.

It is the easiest place to visit on and around the lake: there is a transportation service on the lake to take a walk and get to the park with suspension bridge routes, zip lines, mountain bike rentals, walking tours, kayaking etc. In short, a whole bunch of activities for the family. The place also has three pitches with cabins around the lake and three restaurants, all accessible by road or by boat.

This is a magnificent walk to this totally unspoilt beach, which serves as a refuge for turtles to lay their eggs. On the road to Playa Maguey, there is a detour to Cacaluta, which leads to a dead end. Here begins the vegetation under which to enter to take a small shaded path of three kilometres; some boats take their guests snorkeling or diving around the islet that floats in front of the vast ocean. This is a turtle spawning ground, be careful where you step!

Carrizalillo beach, which is reached by a long staircase, really beautiful, but so small that it is better to go there during the week and outside school holidays. It is the ideal place for a beach day and towel pull, the waters of this small bay being much calmer than the rest of the coast. It should be noted that this entire area has recently been transformed into a (pretty) residential area. Along Benito Juárez Avenue (Rinconada district) there are many small cafés and very nice restaurants.
