Read moreThe pastorelas are a kind of medieval mystery about the journey of the Magi to see the Child Jesus. They take place in the Vasco Quiroga square during the Christmas holidays. Eight villages take part in this event with masked dances simulating the struggle between angels and demons, including San Lorenzo, Santa María Huiramangaro and Sevina. It is interesting to visit these communities, as each has its own dances, rituals and costumes. The masks are made by craftsmen and are impressive in their color and diversity.
