Site that was occupied by the Tecoxquin indigenous group, including more than 2,000 well-preserved petroglyphs at Chacala
Put on your sneakers and go discover impressive archaeological ruins located in the middle of the jungle, on the side of the Copo volcano. The site was occupied by the Tecoxquin indigenous group between 2000 and 2300 BC and includes more than 2,000 well-preserved petroglyphs. It will take you about 3 hours to walk the 9 km trail (round trip). The visit requires the services of a specialized tourist agency that will recommend a local guide. The site is also accessible by an organized excursion from San Pancho.
