SYNDICAT DES PRODUCTEURS DE MELONS DU HAUT-POITOU

Market gardeners

In the clay-limestone soils of the Haut-Poitou, the Rolls Royce of melons is 150 years old, and the Poitou-Charentes region alone produces a quarter of the national output. The Haut-Poitou melon was the first melon certified in France in 1996. A plot is grown every 5 years, only in the open air, in an area bounded to the south by the Auxances valley, to the north by the Loire and to the west by the Clain and Vienne valleys. 13 demanding farmers share the cultivation of this delicacy.

ROZO SPIRIT

Liquor store

Cécile Baybaud, aka Cisou, has known the scents of the magic potion since she was a child. His youth from Martinique and then Guyana, between a mother who experiments with punch and liqueurs made from agricultural rum and a father who lends himself to tasting, has deeply rooted his taste for spirits. No wonder that several meetings and tastings later, the young woman developed her own recipes. Their particularity: they are infused agricultural white rums from French Guiana, with no added sugars. The perfume comes exclusively from the maceration of rigorously selected and skillfully combined fruits, flowers and spices. Its creative range includes ZANANA (pineapple peel), AUZAN (combination of pineapple flesh and the delicacy of saffron from the Great Gorse), MANJAK (sweet mango combined with the tonicity of piri-piri pepper), PAPWA (green Sichuan pepper), BWA (combination of raisins, ginger and cinnamon).

LE BATEAU IVRE

Caviste

Rather burgundy or rather coastal-du-rhone? Unless this small upper poitou… Good, among the multitude, difficult to choose a bottle without some good advice. The Bateau Boat is therefore a rather modern address where one comes to drink a drink, buy a magnum, and where inspired wine merchants will recommend the appropriate nectar, the best assortment of wine… Not only a very wide range of wines produced in rational or biodynamie agriculture (according to the wine grower) but if the envy takes you to improve your knowledge, You are sent to Migné-Auxance, the other port of the boat, to participate in the oenology workshops provided by the manager Stéphane Lehuédé, a graduate of the ENITA Bordeaux who made his arms in Médoc and California in particular. The winery suggests some beers, champagnes, alcohols and products from the fine grocery store, in addition to some cheeses to be taken to the plateau according to the seasons.

V AND B

Caviste

V&B combines wine and beer in a single location. The motto is: "Here, beer democratizes wine and wine ennobles beer". And it's true that the idea is a big hit. Conviviality is the watchword of this concept (whose first store opened in 2001 in Château-Gontier in the Mayenne region of France). And in Poitiers, it's working like a charm! One of the city's best value beer bars, V&B offers a wide selection, with over 350 beers from Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Poland, Australia... The wine cellar offers references from all over France, Chile, Argentina and Australia, and for those who are not yet satisfied, V&B offers spirits including whiskies, rums, cognacs and vodkas... The terrace allows customers to meet in groups. The establishment allows "cellar" customers to taste what they're not sure about buying, and allows "bar" customers to leave with a bottle of what they've just tasted... The tasting area is part of the store's décor, a place where life is good. An after-work Irish-style pub, as some call it. What do the people want?

Pastry star of the United States, the donut is declined to infinity. In Poitiers, you will find your happiness at Bali's. In this cute store, Quentin makes 8 to 9 types of donuts and doughnuts every day, according to his inspiration. This sweet dough in the shape of a ring topped with a chocolate (white, milk, dark...), caramel or other topping is then adorned with a topping to complete the decoration. For the young man, it all began in 2020, during the second confinement: instead of renting cars, he tried his hand at pastry making. And finally decides to make it his main activity. You can take this delicacy away or enjoy it on the spot with a drink.
