LE CONTRETEMPS

Bar and caf
5/5
1 review

A lounge bar, a music scene and a theater-café, Le Contretemps is a historical place (50 years of existence) and a must in the rue du Jeu de Paume, in Auray. You can eat there until late around a variety of appetizers, a generous burger or a bruschetta, accompanied by a good Belgian draft beer. On the theater side, the program includes improvisation shows as well as stand-up comedy. On the music side, the house favors acoustic concerts. Open from Tuesday to Saturday from 6 pm to 1 am, inside or on the terrace..

A very friendly bistro, with a warm and friendly setting, where you can stop to satisfy yourself with surf and turf specialities, or to simply have a drink. The friendly atmosphere can be clearly enlivened during major events just like the Spi Ouest-France can be for example. Ideal to enjoy the atmosphere of the marina, the terrace overlooks the quay.

LA BAIGNOIRE DE JOSEPHINE

World bar

It's a friendly and famous place in Carnac, a kind of island gargote with wood, ropes, marine accessories and straw blinds. Ti-punch, Cuban coffee or caïpirinha, the cocktails are the signature of the house and remind us of its exotic origins. Here, Martinique is never far away... The establishment has become an essential spot for nightlife. Around one o'clock in the morning, the atmosphere becomes hot, and during the high season, downright scorching...

LES MATELOTS

Here's an institution, with the added bonus of a sunny waterside terrace. Les Matelots has been moored on the quay for over 20 years. And when it comes to programming, there's something for everyone. Visit their Instagram page or Facebook page to find out about the year-round program, concerts being their specialty. We appreciate the festive atmosphere, the warm welcome, the aperitif boards and the fine menu of whiskies, cocktails and arranged rums. Watch out when you come out onto the quay! After a few pints, the street is very close!

Antoine and Stéphane welcome you every evening in their other world, an obvious reference to Céline's song! All of them are welcomed in the good mood, but the clientele and mainly made up of gays and lesbians. The lights are lighting, indirect for a more intimate atmosphere. In the space of a weekend or a month, the bar can take on its beach with real sand, its winter sports dress, or its Halloween outfit. Saturday, the theme evenings are even more crowded!

LA BISE TROTTE

Wine bar

Located in Carnac village, 50 m from the church, this wine bar is renowned for its excellent coffee and its choice of glass wines from small growers or draught beer. The atypical decoration is very nice, in keeping with the reception of Jérôme, the master of the places since June 2012. At any time, the house offers sandwiches and desserts, and at the time of the aperitif there is always something to eat, not to mention the sausages proposed. Also discover the exhibitions of painters.

BAKER STREET

With its pink facade, its small terrace and its good smells of cooking, we can't resist to discover this tea room of Belle-Île. Pastry chef by trade, Jean-Claude prepares delicious pastries and morning pastries, but also pies (salmon-aubergine, sardine-tomato...), pies, sandwiches and soups in winter for the salty side. You can come at any time of the day to enjoy a little sweet or salty treat according to your tastes, your desires and your appetite. Go there, especially for the welcome: charming.

LE CAFE DU MIDI

Bar and caf

Created in 1890 and taken over by Morgane, Le Café du Midi is a landmark for locals. One comes there to drink a coffee while quietly reading the newspaper, to sip a beer at the aperitif or to eat a dish of the day, a plate, a composed salad or a traditional cake. The establishment, a little jewel of the peninsula, has kept its charm and cachet of yesteryear, with its tables close together and its unobstructed view of the pretty Haliguen port. An address not to be missed with a friendly atmosphere and a vast terrace to enjoy the sun.

LE CLIFDEN

Pub

This country bistro is a real institution in Sarzeau and the surrounding area. Having taken over the family business more than 30 years ago, Gwénaël Le Jendre doesn't want to let go of the torch, and for good reason, he likes to say: "I'm too much in love with this area to consider anything else" except getting on his Harley and travelling to more or less distant places. The Clifden, which was opened by his grandfather in 1925, has celebrated its 90th anniversary with rock bands, rockabilly, blues or traditional Celtic music. There is something for everyone in the summer evenings!

LES CHARLIE’S

Lounge bar
Closed - Open to 12h00

Les 3 Singes has a restaurant at Le Charlie and a lounge bar at Le Théâtre. It is no coincidence that the bar was named after him. Beyond the scenery - superb! -there is the history of the place. The establishment hosted the first Vannet theatre, which belonged to Jean Poiret's daughter at the time. Its old-fashioned soul has resurfaced in a lounge atmosphere, with boudoir inspiration and the beginning of the last century... You will appreciate the comfortable armchairs and sofas as much as the cocktail menu. This is an ideal place for reunions and fiery discussions between friends!

TCHOU TCHOU

Guinguette
Closed

After Hello Rivages in Plouharnel/Carnac, the Quiberon train station has been given a new business: Tchou Tchou. A lively café-guinguette for bon vivants, it has been brightening up evenings on the peninsula since summer 2023. On the program: good, local food on tapas boards and on the drinks menu, and entertainment that's going strong! In fact, the train isn't far away, as Tchou Tchou has set up shop in the former premises adjoining the station. You can still see the stop sign at the bar: be sure to stop in!
