PINEAU-COGNAC BOSSUET

Liquor store

It's a store familiar to the people of La Rochelle, and not just because it's located in the heart of the city. When you arrive at Place de Verdun, you'll only have to walk a few meters to enter a pretty boutique, that of the Bossuet family. For almost 35 years, it has been showcasing some of the department's pride and joy: pineau, cognac, Charentais liqueurs and more, having won numerous awards at national French wine competitions. Rates are identical to those of the estate less than an hour away, near Saintes. There, you'll discover an old copper still, as well as the ageing cellar, which you can visit on your own.

GODET

Liquor store

Bonaventure Godet had two passions: the ocean and cognac. He settled in La Rochelle in the middle of the 16th century to export salt from the Aunis and wine. This native Dutchman began distilling wine and exporting it to his country in barrels, without any marks. The house only used his name in 1782. In 1984, an English group bought the house of Godet, but Jean-Jacques Godet, of the 14th generation, took it over in 1995. His three sons are ready to take over. The company sells VS, VSOP, XO and a whole category of high-end cognacs and old cognacs aged between 70 and 170 years.

ROZO SPIRIT

Liquor store

Cécile Baybaud, aka Cisou, has known the scents of the magic potion since she was a child. His youth from Martinique and then Guyana, between a mother who experiments with punch and liqueurs made from agricultural rum and a father who lends himself to tasting, has deeply rooted his taste for spirits. No wonder that several meetings and tastings later, the young woman developed her own recipes. Their particularity: they are infused agricultural white rums from French Guiana, with no added sugars. The perfume comes exclusively from the maceration of rigorously selected and skillfully combined fruits, flowers and spices. Its creative range includes ZANANA (pineapple peel), AUZAN (combination of pineapple flesh and the delicacy of saffron from the Great Gorse), MANJAK (sweet mango combined with the tonicity of piri-piri pepper), PAPWA (green Sichuan pepper), BWA (combination of raisins, ginger and cinnamon).

COGNAC RENAULT

Liquor store

Jean-Antonin Renault, a 25-year-old businessman from Charente, founded Renault Cognac in Cognac in 1935. Very attached to high quality, he was also the first to ship his cognacs in bottles in order to preserve the original taste and delicate flavours. A frequent traveller, he began selling cognac during his travels in Scandinavia, Germany, Eastern Europe, Iceland, but also in the Americas and Asia. For a time, Renault belonged to the Pernod-Ricard group, which then sold it to a Finnish group. Blending plays an important role in the production of Renault cognacs. Renault Carte Noire cognacs, for example, are the result of a blend of more than 50 carefully selected eaux-de-vie. Each cognac has its own style, very rich and fruity, but also very intense. Its taste is sweet, round and generous. Each Renault product has its own identity while respecting the original style.

HARDY COGNAC

Liquor store

Hardy House was founded by Anthony Hardy. This wine and spirits professional regularly came from London to Charentes to check the wines. The climate and charm of the region seduced him and he decided to settle there. He founded the Hardy House in 1863. A great lover of France and the French, Anthony became Antoine. And the icing on the cake: he also adopted the Gallic rooster as the emblem of his house... Very early on, its cognac was recognized in the world of excellence. His son Armand turned more and more to Central Europe, where his father was already exporting. His descendants opened new markets in North America, South America and English-speaking Africa. Two American importers asked Jacques Hardy for an extraordinary cognac. This was the birth of Perfection Cognac, presented in a prestigious Daum crystal factory. The artist Carzou created a lithograph for this unique object. Another cognac was sublimated in a Lalique carafe, a limited edition of 333 copies and signed by Bénédicte Hardy, a direct descendant of the founder. In the world of Hardy cognac, it is "haute couture"
