The Auberge du Cud'poulot is still located in the Bresse part of the region, so it is normal that we find this name, which in patois means "chicken's ass", the animal that is the emblem of Bresse. On the roadside this hostel cannot go unnoticed, a large building and a pretty terrace attract the eye. The modern exterior colours contrast with a rather rustic interior, like the Bresse farms. The person in charge of the premises comes from "the city" since he worked in the no less famous restaurant La Réale in Chalon, so we can legitimately expect a quality cuisine. Here tradition rhymes with Bresse chicken of course, Charolais beef too, snail with morels, egg meurette or epoisse or even fried pike-perch, a cuisine that has the flavour of the region. The design of the room also allows groups to be accommodated. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and reminiscent of family lunches where good mood and good food make the forks sing.

The hotel is large and has as many rooms as on the terrace a large number of guests. The decoration is somewhat dated and the presentation of the dishes a little brouillonne but the house put on the land and family kitchen. In Saint John you can enjoy the best traditional dishes Burgundy, Bressans and Jura. When you enter, you will take frogs or snails. Continue with Bresse chicken with the morels, the duck magret or the filet of yellow wine. Lighter, the house offers large compound salads or pasta. In dessert, from classic: burnt cream, tatin pie to apples or chocolate. A simple, family and frills address. Good value for money.

Les Jardins du lac is a hotel-restaurant that has been undergoing a renewal since it was taken over in May 2018 by Loan Gagnarre, a native of Autun. While waiting for the work to be done, Loan and his boss have a lot of ideas in their basket. The kitchen is 100% homemade, with an unbeatable price/quality ratio. The theme evenings at the wine bar are already setting the tone with a clientele that supports the project. The establishment enjoys a breathtaking view of the lake, from where you can also admire the glazed tiles of the military school or the cathedral in the distance. We do not hesitate to settle on the terrace as soon as the sun comes out.

A beautiful address to test which highlights fresh products. Lovers of gastronomy and lovers of their profession, these two fine restaurants will make you get to the right time. A name for plates, which are in Gien. Some suggestions from the menu for a promising foretaste: rabbit livers and their salad salad in Sherry vinegar, langoustines pan, white cheese sherbet and compote of the moment. We love very much.

Since this establishment was taken over in the summer of 2019, we have reserved our opinion, we are very disappointed by the offer.
