A typical building of the romanesque churches of Provence of which most elements date from the 12th century. The church was rebuilt in 1867 on the site of the former Augustinian monastery of the 12th century. In 1987, after  being abandoned for 25 years, the cultural centre moved there, thus profiting from the many rooms of this magnificent building and its extraordinary vaulted show room. All murals paintings of Charles Barbentan are still visible in the sumptuous room on the 1st floor.

Pernes has made a small "secular miracle" with its chapel of White Penance, as it has become a centrepiece of pernoise cultural activity. Located in 1152 on the ruins of a pagan temple dedicated to Diane, she was the first church in the village. Intimately interwoven in the heart of its medieval rampart, it almost disappeared several times during its nine centuries of history. The visit is to be done! Enter the Jewish door and raise your eyes towards a small Italian organ. Its ornate Baroque decor was classified by Historical Monuments in 1849. The nave, with its late Romanesque vaults, houses statues before each pillar. The golden altarpiece has a central panel dating back to 1480, dedicated to Saint Georges. Side panels (1532) present Saint Maurice, patron of the city. The tomb of white marble (1501) is that of a vice-king of Naples: Estienne de Vesc. A persistent legend says that under the current church, an underground church is buried as high as the visible church.

On the hills, you will find this small chapel that offers a beautiful view of the village. Tradition demands that women wishing to have a child should go up to the chapel with an egg in each hand during a first pilgrimage (Easter Monday), swallow one and burry another on the site. Their wish was granted if during the second pilgrimage (September 8), they found the second egg intact where they had buried it!

Classified as a historical monument, it was destroyed and then rebuilt between the 12th and 14th centuries. The Saint-Sauveur church is in the Provencal Romanesque style, especially its central nave and its basements. The lateral naves have been added to the 16th and 17th centuries, with gothic decorative elements. The church houses an organ of baroque style and the oldest and the most elaborate wrought iron bell tower in Provence (1725).
