THÉÂTRE DU JEU DE PAUME

Theater
4/5
1 review

Built on the narrow site of the former royal Jeu de Paume dating from the mid-18th century, this superb little Italian-style theater with a capacity of 493 seats has a charm all its own, due in part to the intimate atmosphere it exudes. Completely renovated in 2000, it boasts comfortable seats and perfect acoustics. It works hand in hand with Marseille's Théâtre du Gymnase and the Grand Théâtre de Provence, each year offering a program that alternates from one venue to the other, but is combined in a single catalog offered to the public.

LA BIÈRE DRACÉNOISE

Beer bar
4/5
1 review

This is one of the new places of conviviality in Dracene. Sam and his wife have completely transformed this old neighbourhood bar into a trendy beer bar. They brew their own beer, the Graouli, very refreshing, aromatic with a nice bitterness and citrus notes. They offer local, craft and draught beers, a few selected wines and boards to share. On weekends, concerts, karaoke or mythical films with meals in the theme. Whether it's for the owner's welcome or the friendly atmosphere, we love it.

The bar is neat and a little rocky at the same time. The judicious arrangement of great vintages as well as more modest ones, which tourists and connoisseurs should not hesitate to frequent. And beware: the house "does not shy away from any sacrifice": it combines the functions of cellar, wine bar with a possible snack menu, introductory workshops in oenology and sommelier advice, weddings and other festivities... CAFÉ DE LA FONTAINE

We like to settle here in any season. The terrace overlooks the fountain, we sit there with pleasure. We stop for a coffee, a tea with a pastry, to sip a lemonade, a fruit juice, a glass of local wine or a pastis, and to nibble some Corsican specialities (cooked pork meats, figatelli...). We let ourselves go to remake the world under the soft Provencal sun. The cuisine is simple, the menu varied, the plates colorful, copious. The personnel is with the small care. Here, it smells like vacations all year long.

Founded in 1929, the Navy Bar is the essential institution of the Old Port. In particular, it was chosen for the famous part of the card of Raimu. It's like this bar is irremovable in the affection of the Marseillais. Today, the bar, ideally placed, welcomes you from breakfast to dinner and much later. Different populations cross there, tourists to Pagnol lovers, fans of Love Addict (whose scene was there) to the nocturnal once night fell. The staff were very helpful.

The Cup of Tea is a bookshop-tea room with a lovely terrace and a selection of independent booksellers. Ideal for a cup of tea with a good read. In the charming store, with its wood panelling and subdued lighting, you'll find books and bistro tables, and a staircase leading to a cosy, intimate mezzanine - a well-kept secret! The walls are decorated with monthly changing exhibitions. The tea menu features some forty flavors, many of them oriental and exotic from Lapsang Souchong, India, Kenya and Japan, as well as a variety of aromatic blends of green, jasmine and Hanoi monsoon teas, all served in good-sized teapots. You can accompany it with a few good cakes (tarts, cookies, muffins...). Service is warm and friendly.

It always surprises tourists and has been delighting Avignon residents for years with its British brunches. Yes, it's a real English tea room and it's unbeatable. What can we say about its scones, cheesecakes and other cakes on the floor except that they are to die for. The service is also English style with porcelain flower cups, we love it! Of course, savoury fans can choose the egg with bacon. The whole thing is accompanied by a tea that you can choose from a selection of about twenty flavours. Let's go!

A building out of exposed stones located in bottom of the village, right before the botanical trail, and which is melted with wonder with the landscape of the caladées narrow streets. It is very small but the terrace... it is the Mont Ventoux! One tastes dishes vegetarians or vegan. One takes the aperitif by dividing into sheets a book. Hey yes, it is also a bookstore with a pointed selection of works on Ventoux. And one lets oneself wrap by the grandiose landscape by listening to the concert. Can one better dream?
