A beautiful stopover on the famous road of the Dukes of Burgundy which leads from the Yonne to the Saône-et-Loire via the Côte d'Or with, as stopover towns and villages, those which shelter imposing castles born from the prosperity of this region which knew its apogee at the time when the famous Dukes governed, like Philip II the Bold (1363-1404), John the Fearless (1404-1419), Philip III the Good (1419-1467) or Charles the Bold (1467-1477). Tanlay and his superb monument are thus part of it. A town of barely a thousand souls, as peaceful as it is full of history.
